Yeti City Version

Skoda are really intent on driving us into competitors models. Was just researching changing to a new Yeti City before they bring out the new model late 2017; so now off to Suzuki garage to look at the 1.4 Boosterjet Vitara and the facelifted SX4.

Pity as this would have been my third new Skoda but they now seem intent on dramatically reducing customer choice.

Indeed. It is a shame that current Yeti will disappear end of 2017. The new model bears no resemblance to the elegant Yeti we have today. If you are thinking in buying it, hurry a bit since they stop taking orders around 4 months before the introduction of the new one. Furthermore, the choices offered will be dramatically reduced from the second quarter next year in order to streamline production.

I imagine the City version probably didn't sell in the numbers expected with most preferring the more 'butch' model.

We looked at the Suzuki models before going for our current Yeti and although very good value for money, the quality of the interior in particular was a bit disappointing.

We had the previous model SX4 prior to our first Yeti and it was a decent enough car.

silworld,

what new model are you talking about how it looks and when it will go on sale.

Are there pictures someplace or some announcement on it?

A couple of weeks ago I (hypothetically...) looked at spec'ing up a Yeti Monte Carlo CR150 but it wan't available on the 0% PCP deal. Eventually, the Skoda UK website was update for 01 Oct deals (a week late) and it appeared. Then last week,  the fine people at Allams said the City was off limits so no ordering MCs anymore - stock vehicles only.

Looks like TIBET III is a keeper - and not disappointed in that in reality.

With so much choice in the market and prices so competitive I suspect they're preparing for the new model and have to reduce costs somewhere.

But as the Yeti comes to the end of it's life cycle it becomes more profitable as all development and fixed costs will have been "paid" and thus Skoda will make more profit per vehicle than with newer models. On that basis you would have thought they would have wanted to maximize sales, and remember the new Yeti is not due until 2018 - at least 18 months away in reality - so there is considerable time to fill before they have a new replacement Yeti to sell.

There are so many unavailable versions maybe they're preparing for the future of a simplified choice to keep unti costs down.

Out here there are so many brand choices there is little profit in the new sale but the recovery is in servicing.........I suspect the BEV is their nightmare scenario if there is similar competition

Exactly the same, even sitting in the car was not a pleasant experience. In the past I've owned 6 Suzukis and so I was disappointed.

The compact Skoda Yeti SUV will be replaced in 2018 by an all-new model inspired by the recently revealed Kodiaq seven seater. Images, courtesy ofCar Advice, show a prototype version of this VW Tiguan-based SUV being put through its paces before it’s officially shown to the public in 2017.

No official images have been released but our exclusive render, above, shows what this all-new off-roader will look like when it goes on sale in 2018. Read on for full details and images…

Skoda will base the new Yeti on the recently released VW Tiguan SUV. Images of the prototype suggest the roofline, door openings and side skirts will be almost identical to the German offering but a pair of new bumpers, a revised bootlid and new lights should help the new Yeti stand out.

The Kodiak’s angular grille and twin headlight arrangement could also make an appearance on this new five-seater. Its full-width air intake does appear to have been dropped in favour of a smaller opening in the Yeti’s front bumper, however.

skoda-yeti-interior.jpgThis grainy image shows us the Yeti’s interior will look similar to the VW Tiguan’s

These images show the prototype has been fitted with the same centre console and upper dashboard as the new Tiguan. The rest of the new car’s interior is expected to differ only subtly from that of VW’s latest SUV.

Gosh, had my yeti (city version) just 2 weeks, hadn't expected it to be axed so quickly

Currently still have the August brochure on Skoda website, which includes it, but I guess stock vehicles are still out there.

Ateca sized with family similarity to Kodiak and maybe, if we are lucky, a hint of the existing Yeti. In short it will be another crossover clone similar to all the rest out there. Skoda are aiming this to be a direct competitor of the market leading Quashquai and so it can't have any design quirks like the Mk1 Yeti. Pity but that's Skoda's marketing for dummies - simply follow the leader and avoid originality at all costs.

I might sound annoyed but that's because I am! Was just specking up a City Yeti SEL with all the bells and whistles and lo and behold it's been discontinued! Outdoor version is distinctly second best because I can't stand the silver door mirrors and having to pay £650 for side rubbing strips. They are now only available as part of a "package" and I don't want/need the other elements of the package. Anyway £650 is a ridiculous price for the package anyway.

Just add the rubbing strips like I did after I bought the car. Skoda had already started the cost saving exercise by dropping the rubbing strips from my facelift City model - apart from the cost they did me a favour as I've got the more attractive L&K ones.

The dealer will supply and fit them or you can get them from SuperSkoda and fit them yourself.

Dropping the rubbing strips from the Outdoor model as well is just daft!

The side rubbing strips are easy to fit provided the surface to where they are attached is clean.

Mine - the L & K version came from Deutsche Parts and cost around £60, what else is included in

the "package " to get it up to ten times this amount - would really have to be good !!!!!!!!!!!!

Skoda UK configurators are often like that.

Show examples, start to configure, chose a colour and what they show might or might not be what you will get.

Go to a Dealership, start to configure, ask the salesperson and they may or may not know what you will get.

Well it looks like it's certainly not going to be instantly recognisable like the first version was.

....And it will probably disappear into the general anonymity of this current fashion.  Škoda bucked the trend with the Yeti in 2009 and had a winner; what a shame they're scared to build on that success.

Nobody wants to push any visual boundaries so me-too blandness everywhere now, sadly.

How long before the Duke is dumped I wonder.
