Wing mirror setting

Recommended Posts

Can be enabled with VCDS or Carista; and is then a setting within the Maxidot to enable

Mirror will dip if the mirror adjust is on the left mirror position when reverse is engaged (imagine it's the other way around for LHD cars)

If you don't have memory seats the mirror will return to a 'default' position, rather than where you had it last

VCDS allows access to the car's computer to change settings.

It's quite expensive to buy (~£250+); but there is a handy map which shows where people are who have it:

A bit of beer money their way and they'll likely be happy to help

Carista is available on the app store and needs a bluetooth module connected to the OBDII port on the car.

What it can do is very limited when compared to VCDS; but the cost is a lot lower ('Pro' version of the app is ~£20 and a bluetooth module is <£10)

If you're new to tweaking the car, I'd get in touch with someone close by (looks like 3 people around Dublin) and they might be able to enable some other functionality depending on what is available on your car (in addition to the mirror dip).

If it's an Elegance model, this feature should already be enabled. To use it, you need to set the mirror control switch in the left position. To adjust the dipped position, put the car in reverse with the ignition on but the engine not running and use the joystick to position it where you want it for reversing. If you have memory function on the driver's seat you can then store the current setup.

Hi thanks for reply,

However it's a 'se business ' model that doesn't have electric/memory seats, so probably don't have that feature- though mirrors do fold in when close button is held on fob????

If you have electrically folding mirrors then there will be a position for that on the joystick to control the mirrors. If you don't have it you'll have L, 0, R and Mirror heating positions to turn the joystick to, but if you do there will be a 5th position. As far as I know the same memory module that stores the seat position for the electric adjusting seats stores the mirror positions, so you don't get one without the other.
