What part is this?

Recommended Posts

After having a dented passenger side sill and a dent in the front passenger door repaired I arrived home from Westover Accident Repair Centre in Poole and later found this post-23745-0-36184900-1477428245_thumb.jpg in the tailgate space.

Round the edge is a Skoda badge then a gap then CZ and a gap then ZA5 then a gap

then 5E0 035 217 then a gap then >PP, SEBS< then agap then 2*.

Any idea what it is - more importantly should it be fitted or is it a part that has been replaced?

It was too late to contact Westover today and I can't tomorrow so any help will be appreciated.

Wow thanks for the quick reply. It looks like they've had the door card off then - I wonder if they have forgotten to replace it or fitted another one?

I can't get back to them before Thursday.

Do you think it is likely that this has been replaced and this is the old one or has it been forgotten - no rattles or anything loose sounding in the door?

The mounting ring is plastic/rubber and only affects to a speaker sound mildly.

It is very simple to install once you've taken the door card off.

Car back to Westover today. Apparently speaker mounting had been overlooked when door card was replaced - all now sorted.

Not untypical, in my experience - I've had five instances of door cards and contents being bodged over the years. And only six instances when there was need for it to be removed/refitted. So that's an 83.3% cockup rate.

Westover 'repaired' my mum's Superb after a milk tanker scraped down the entire side. Replaced both doors, and I had to clip half the trim back together and the rear door now whistles. All the rubber seals around the top of the door frame around the window are wonky, and the shut lines are no longer even either. Not impressive!
