Rapid Sportback

Recommended Posts

Wife has just bought a 2 year old 1.2 petrol to replace a written off Peugeot.

We are now a 3 car Skoda family - which is a bit of an irritation to her unfortunately!!

She likes the Rapid but I have to admit there are quite a few squeaks and groans from the doors - sounds like poor quality plastics rubbing against metal.

Disappointing compared to our other two Skodas.

Anyone else suffered similarly and, if so, any suggested remedies?

Had this with our 2014 Spaceback.

Try putting some Wurth Gummi Pflege on all the door seals including the 'felt' one around the top of the door.

Been there, done that! Absolutely no result... :wall:

I had really bad squeaks from the door rubbers. Narrowed it down to wiping the inside of the door aperture with the same cloth as the outside paintwork. It must have left some kind of wax trace from the car wash product over the rubbers that then squeak like hell over any uneven surface.

My fix was to put some washing up liquid in a bowl of warm water, sponge down the rubbers and any paintwork they touch, then thoroughly dry off with a clean kitchen towel. ( making sure you use the topside of the kitchen towel as the bottom will scratch the paint)

Mine are quiet now but did take a couple of tries.

Mines just been back in dealers today for new clutch pedal and bearings and they have washed it, cue the squeaks!

This was what was recommended to me (via the forum) and after a few applications over several months, the squeaks have lessened considerably. I didn't use that exact brand but the product name was the same. Edited by ted1888

+1

I cleaned the 'felt' door seals then applied the Gummi Pflege (Einszett 1Z brand) . Noises gone.
