Left a dealer a bad review, now they want to talk?

Hey all,

Other than clarifying my concerns with the dealer, do you think there is any point talking to a dealer about my experience, especially when I've placed my order with another dealer as a result?

Basically I had used the Book a Test drive on both the Skoda website and the dedicated dealer website, both of which resulted in nothing for almost a week. I then used the online chat system in which someone took my details and said a sales person would be in touch and I'm still waiting two weeks later.

I finally called them and spoke to someone who to their defence apologised and said it was something they had to improve on, however they ended the call saying that someone would call back to confirm an appointment for the next day to come and look around a few cars. Again, still haven't heard back.

Today, I received an email from a third party review service (Judge Service) who asked for me to review the dealer and to be fair, I didn't hold back.

Literally within 5 minutes of clicking send, I got a phone call/voicemail from the sales manager saying how he's extremely disappointed in the negative feedback and would like to discuss it.

Any suggestions? Give him the time or just leave my feedback as is and get on with it?

Depends if you fancy an argument or if you just want to buy a car. Personally I'd leave it hanging if I was busy, but if I had nowt to do and was feeling cheeky I'd let them call me and see why I was annoyed. Probably be along the lines of "Why would I buy a car from a dealership who showed so little interest in me as a customer? If that's the service then imagine what it'd be like once they'd actually got my money!"

Personally , I would calmly fire of both barrels stating the facts, and that because of their complete lack of customer service, you have taken your business elsewhere, and would not currently recommend them to anyone then let them chew that over.

When i bought my Yeti, I gave Skoda a not so +ve feedback on the dealer and got same panic call, just calmly explained and left it at that. Fortunatly i cannot go back even if I wanted as they now are a Suzuki dealership.

For servicing i only have a poor choice of 2 mega dealerships have tried both, for all their smart showrooms, the service is very impersonal so its like the 2016 US election which bad one do i choose.

I'd arrange the test drive, acting interested, get all the information I needed, push then for a good price if I liked the car, get the printed quote, then tell them why you're going to be taking your custom elsewhere.

Go all pretty woman on them? lol

Luckily I have two/three main dealerships within a 15 mile radius however the one in question is actually the main dealer in my town that I drive past twice a day.

Ultimately I imagine they will only want me to alter/retract my review but not sure how they are going to convince me it's worth going.

Hey ho, I'll ring them later and update shortly ;)

Thanks!

Pretty much, there's nothing spurs a dealer on more to give you a decent price than a good written quote from their competitors.

Much as a bitch and moan at them might make you feel better, you've got to find a way to turn things to your advantage.

Well, asides from a sincere apology, nothing else was said or done.

The dealer I ordered through matched an online deal that saved me a 250 mile trip or a £240 admin fee, so all good.

No matts, fuel or anything but looks like they weren't making anything on the sale anyway.

Which dealer got the order, and which was the 'bad one'?

Silbury Skoda got my order - Lookers Newcastle was the dealership that I experienced my issues with.

Hopefully when it comes to service time, Lookers will handle things a lot better.

I've always had good service from Silbury Skoda and would always recommend them.

I did try Lookers when I changed my Yeti last time, but they couldn't get near the figures that other garages could re a pch deal so I used Silbury (again).
