Rear suspension sagging?

My 2007 Roomster Scout with 83k has got a saggy rear end on the drivers side. 

 

I've been underneath and can't see evidence of a broken spring - any ideas what this might be?

Lots of miles with a fat bar tender in the RH rear seat?

Have you jacked it up and supported it for your safety to see if the spring is actually broken?

Not actually got around to that yet, may be able to have a better look this weekend. 

 

Wife now says she heard a strange noise at the rear in the week, sounded like she'd driven over something metallic (must have been bad for her to notice!)

Both our rear springs corroded in the cups that hold bottom of the spring meaning about an inch of Spring was missing. It wasn't until the springs had been removed the full extent of the damage became apparent.

OK, looks like I'm going to need to replace the rear set. 

 

One question - I do a lot of towing (200k of camping stuff), would I be better to fit an uprated set?

1) "bar tender" -> "bar steward" - get it now?

 

2) What's relevant about trailers is not the trailer payload, or even the GVW (not stated), but the nose weight (also not stated).
