Bluetooth issues.... anyone else experienced this?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a 2013 Rapid which was 3 years old last week. The issue I have is with Bluetooth pairing with a phone. Up until about 2-3 months ago it worked great and I was able to listen to music and make/take calls without issue.

I swapped from an iPhone to a OnePlus 3 which also worked great, I then changed phones again to a Samsung Galaxy S7 which again worked great! The S7 received an update and the bluetooth stopped working, I just put it down to the software update. Tried resetting the phone, calling Samsung but still no joy. I eventually swapped back to iPhone and was excited to get in the car and pair it as I knew my last one worked! It didn't work! It pairs, it connects, fucnctions as it should but no sound at all through the car. Music plays but no sound, if I make a call the person can hear me but I can't hear them unless I switch it to the phones speaker.

I updated the iPhone to the latest software but still nothing. Since then I have tried an iPhone 6, 6s, 5s, and two different 7's and not a single one works all have same issue. I even tried to reset the stereo/Bluetooth module by disconnecting the battery and removing fuses relating to the stereo/Bluetooth but it didn't do anything. As soon as I switched the ignition on, it still had the old connections in memory.

Spoken to Skoda, can't find any issues and Skoda UK say it's the phone!! All 5 or 6 that I have tried all running different version of operating system. They're going to log a call with Skoda technical but not holding out any luck with them saying anything but the phone is at fault!

So, anyone had this? Is there a fix? Can the Bluetooth module be reset?

Appreciate any feedback.

Forgot to mention I have the basic stereo unit with just the strip display no colour screen or anything.

Whilst I have this post open I would also like to mention another issue. Headlights flicker when you turn the steering wheel, is that normal? Only really notice when parking or manoeuvring at low speeds. Again, Skoda dealer found nothing wrong!

I don't know about your Bluetooth problems but my 2013 Rapid has a headlight flicker when manouvering at low speeds. I don't think it is a fault, it is just the electric motor that drives the electro-hydraulic power steering pulling a large current to assist you.

Hi Ukianb

I know this was a few months ago but did you ever get this sorted?

I had the car out with my local dealer and they sent a diagnostic test away to Skoda. Skoda believe it is 'likely' the bluetooth module and they want the dealer to test by swapping out the module. That would be ok but they want to charge me £65 per hour and are saying that this will likely take 2 hours which is a load of crap. I'm not paying £120 odd for them to do some testing.

Did you eventually get this sorted?

I was planning on d/c and reconnecting the bluetooth module myself to see if it made any difference but I'm not too sure where it is and I'm not very hands on either when it comes to cars.

Thanks

Fintan

Try connecting to the module (with a phone that does connect), then delete all the stored phone profiles, then start again.

( I found that the "delete" option is not there if a phone is not connected.)

I have a RCD330 fitted that has inbuilt bluetooth which has made my bluetooth module obsolete.
