2013 superb 4x4 dsg, good idea?

Looking at buying a superb around 2013 and ideally 170bhp 4x4 and most I see are dsg.

Now should I be worried about the dsg box, I hear good and bad about them and even my local mechanic, (not vag, specialist) said he would have one but only if it had a warranty. Looking at lowish mileage around 40-50k

Some dsg boxes are sealed for life and others can be refilled, is this correct?

Any other advice particularly with the 4x4 system

Cheers

Welcome to the forum.

As to the DSG there are ones with Wet Clutches & Dry Clutches.

The 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch DSG (DQ200) are fitted to less powerful engines mainly, 185ps & less & had a World Wide Recall which is a Service Campaign only in Europe.

NZ had a proper service campaign

Those 7 speed were supposed to not need servicing.

The 6 Speed Wet Clutch DSG need oil changes and are a more robust box and do not have many issues,

now there are 7 Speed wet clutch DSG being used in VW Group cars.

Maybe have a look in the Superb Sections and even post a question there.

Plenty owners of the car you are interested can help you, they are an excellent choice.
