does anyone got this error (Octavia greenline 2016)

I was at dealers service but they don't know anything about it

it started next day I picked up the car 2.8.2016. and comes occasionaly, sometimes twice a week sometimes once a month

only thing I could do is stop, turn off engine, start again and it is ok then

anyway, with error on car is loosing power and max speed is restricted to 166km/h

Increasingly, cars now have a series of slats in front of the radiator that can be opened or closed as required.

They are mentioned in the Skoda Superb manual, as follows.  (Not sure about Octavia)

"The radiator blind (hereinafter: blind) helps to reduce CO2 harmful emissions and to save fuel. If the system detects that it is possible to reduce the amount of air flowing to the radiator, it closes the blinds. As a result the wind resistance at the front of the vehicle is reduced. The blinds are located between the grille in the front bumper and the radiator.

If the functioning of the blinds is impaired and the vehicle reaches a speed of about 150 km/h, the following message appears in the display of the instrument cluster.

Error: radiator shutter. Function restricted.

After displaying the above message, the speed of the vehicle is automatically limited to about 170 km/h.If this message appears in the winter, the cause may be ice or snow caught up in the blinds. After the ice or snow has thawed, the blinds are functional again. If the impairment not due to ice or snow, then assistance from a specialist should be sought."

Does your error only occur when ice or snow could be freezing the blinds?  Or is something else stuck in there which is not allowing them to move freely?

Edit: now found similar text in Octavia manual on-line.  Look at page 119 of this.

they said in service that nothing is stucked and it was in august last year (so no ice or snow)

they deleted error but after some time it came out again for no reason

later I called a dealer and he said they are waiting for some new software to be relased

so unprofessional :/

cant drive like that

I would go to another dealer or complain to Skoda HQ in the country where you bought the car.

If they are waiting for a new software to fix the problem, ask for them to give you a replacement car until they can fix the problem.

Alternatively I don't see why they couldnt just replace the grill-shutter & control module to see if it fixes your problem.

I would tell them that this is not an acceptable answer.

I would be forcing them to replace the grill shutter & control module or provide you with an equivelant  replacement car until it is solved.

Minimum, they should tell you when the correction is available (do you have to wait a week, a month, 6 months??)

It is not possible that all greenline TDIs have this same error so there must be a solution even if it is not the "final" correction.

Especially if the car is in limp-home with reduced power when the error occurs.

It sounds like you are being too nice to the dealer.

You've just spent many thousands of €s on a new car & they don't seem interested to help you get it working.

As you have the car from new & have had the problem since the start which they cannot rectify I wouldn't leave the dealership without a solution.

(Actually I would send in my wife & let her scream at them ;) )

My next step would be to post the email from the garage & Skoda to the some kind of Skoda social media account (Facebook/twitter) & shame them into giving you some better service.

Surely the least they could do is disable the system in the meantime to avoid the annoying error?! And give you a few quid towards the extra fuel you're using

Their answer is not really good enough. Yes you have to be understanding that they obviously don't have a solution and are working on one but to just say they will do nothing is not acceptable.

Surely it might be helpful for Skoda themselves to authorize replacement of the system on your car as a test to see if it is actually faulty hardware?

If its a company car, can you not give it back to the leasing company & tell them it is not suitable for business use until the issue is fixed?

well its not that simple

yesterday I got a call from dealer and I was told that next time I get this error immediately go to their service so they can capture error

but problem is, last time I did that they deleted error and said it will be ok, but now car does it again but with no error message displayed anymore

(loosing power, speed is limited to 166kmh, some kind of safe mode I suppose)
