Rapid Recall DSG

Recommended Posts

I was at my local Skoda dealers, RRG Rochdale yesterday getting a couple of new tyres & they told me there was a recall, issued last week, for a software update for the gearbox (mine is a DSG). I told them to do it whilst I was there. Anyone else had that call?

It can not be a Recall if your car was not 'Recalled' & you were only told because your car was in.

Any Registered Keeper Contacted to 'Recall' a vehicle.

That is a Service Campaign or a Secret Service Skoda Campaign or a Recall Action.

So

Do you have a DQ200 7speed Twin Dry Clutch Gearbox the Skoda UK started a Service Campaign on in 2014 after there was a World Wide Recall,

or is it some other DSG.

Synthetic Oil changed for mineral and a Software Update.

Does your vehicles VIN come up as requiring a Recall Action?

EDIT,

Sorry i see you have a 2014 Diesel.  Are you sure it is the DSG and not 'The Fix' for the removal of the Defeat Device?

DOH, my stupidity,

if you told them just to do the DSG and there was some Service Campaign Field Action required it will not show,

so others with the same car will need to check.

?

Did they tell you what the DSG software update was for?

ie the possibly issues they are trying to prevent or issues that need resoving.

*This is why they are sometimes Secret Service Skoda Service Campaigns, done on a 'Need to know' and the owner seems to not need to know.*

It is important then that owners that have vehicles that might need the Recall Actions are aware of it if Skoda UK or VW are slow in contacting Registered Keepers &

owners / drivers of vehicles that might be affected.

They took long enough with the DQ200 Service Campaign and there are still vehicles that might not have been done where Skoda Dealership do not have the Keepers Contact because the DfT / DVSA never made them do a 'Recall', just a voluntary one.

Even Skoda Approved Used Cars were sold without Service Campaign work carried out.

They just said that it was a software update.

When I took my Toledo for it's first service they told me that there was a recall for a software change concerning the front foglights. Afterwards I noticed that I had " cornering lights".

The DSG software update being referred to in this thread alters the behaviour of the fluid pump within the mechatronics unit to prevent current draw and overheating of said pump.

Takes about 30 minutes and has little if any negative effects.

on some units that require a full flash the basic settings "might" be reset and require a few miles before the adaptive driving cycle is re-learned.

?

Is this just with the Skoda Rapid, or Rapid of a certain age / manufacturing date, and might it involve any other Skoda with a DSG?

So is there a 'RECALL' where all Registered Keepers are contacted or some kind of 'Recall Action / Service Campaign' were Anyone on the Skoda / VW Dealers or Customer Services Data Base is 'Contacted',  or is it a 'Service Campaign' where 'Owners / Keepers' might hear about it if they attend a Dealership for Servicing or Warranty work?

It's a service campaign affecting the good old 7 speed dsg box across all models.

Im not 100% sure if it's become a full on recall at the moment. As you're well aware - skoda are a bit slow off the mark at pushing communication for mandatory work (unless they have their arms twisted).

From what Production date does this 'Software Update' involve seeing as the World Wide Recall on the DQ200 started in 2012,

and the European Service Campaign in 2013 with Skoda UK in May 2014.

So are these DSG's built from 2014 on?

its a new campaign that may very well concern some of the vehicles affected by the previous recall.

Thus far we've updated cars from 2011-2015

i don't know the exact details and don't have access to the info at the moment.

It it seems a lot less substantial than the gear oil and software update recall though.

Had my Octavia 3 (Nov/Dec 2013) in last week for a software update to resolve maxidot light warnings, they said there was a DSG update.

However the Skoda IT system seems to be flaky, they didn't get it done so I've to go back.

Doesn't seem to be an emergency. I'll get it done though as I have concerns about the long term reliability of my 7 speed box.

Just received a letter from Skoda UK this morning telling me it's now time to have the EA 189 NOx emissions part fitted. Anyone else received this letter, not sure if I wanted it done. What's the general consensus?

If your car runs well why would you take the gamble of having it done.? What benefit to you is there?

Threads in about every section of BRISKODA on 'THE FIX' and peoples experiences so far.
