Running fabia without heat shield on turbo

Recommended Posts

So I think I messed up abit today :( I was cleaning the heat shield on the front of the 1.4 twincharger ready for painting and to do it I took it off then my sister wanted a lift to her friends so I obliged as I was driving there I noticed it was driving abit rubbish and I had a slight loss of power / missfire so at her friends it checked the engine bay and the cylinder two coil pack was getting rather hot due to the turbo being infront of it and also the solonoid valve the recirculates the oil from the turbo I think or from the head ? When I got home I checked for trouble codes and got a camshaft timing over retarded , after I got home I put the heat shield back on let it all cool down and proceeded to go out and give it some welly and all seemed fine after that just wondering what everyone thinks I no I've been foolish running the engine without the heat shield on but I just thought it was to prevent you from burning yourself on the turbo
