Falken FK-452's

Recently opted to have some of these fitted in 205/50/17 (93W) fitment as they are high performance tyres for budget prices and I had them fitted by the excellent Event Mobile Tyres - Your Local Mobile Tyre Fitting Service.

Tyres have currently covered 200 miles, but initial testing in the wet and dry is promising. Nice stiff sidewalls prevent "squirm" through the corners and the tyres feel firm with lots of grip and steering feel. Much better than the Pilot Primacy's and Conti's that have been on the car previously (and much cheaper too!) Hopefully it will just get better and better as they continue to scrub in

Oh and they have a very pretty tread pattern too ;)

Tyres have now covered coming up to 1500 miles. My only initial concern was that fuel economy was down some 5mpg on before, but this seems to have sorted itself out now the tyres are nicely scrubbed in. Plenty of grip wet or dry, lovely stiff sidewalls and much less road noise than the previous Conti's and Michelins. :D

Highly recommended!

I ran these on the Fabia and found them realy bad in the wet, 205/40/17 until they were down to around 4mm tread. Aquaplaned something terrible and not a lot of grip. But when worn down they got a lot better and when down to 2mm were superb in the wet. MPG had dropped 5mpg also but never recovered throught the time these were on the front. The rim protection didn't work very well, maybe just needed 215's on my rims.

On an Octavia vRS (225/50/17) I have found them similar to the Toyo T1R. The only difference I can really spot is that the 452's seem to be wearing a little better whereas the T1-R's gave a bit more feedback. All in all there doesn't seem to be a lot to choose between them.

If they are on an Octy vRS, they should be 225/45/17's and not 50 profile? As 50 profiles are used when using 205's.

512 are the longer life, budget end tyres...

However they are fine in the wet on a MK III golf, so i'm surprised you rate them that badly. Like the 452 they were a bugger in the wet when new, but excellent after a few hundred miles.

The 452 have bags of grip in wet and dry so far for me.

the 452 i run on my fabia vrs 215/35r18 they arent too bad. There not liking over 300ft of torque though, they have started scrubbing up.

I hate them in the wet but in the dry i carnt fault them at all.

They've been fine with 300lbft of torque on mine ;)

Had two of these fitted yesterday! first impression is that there seem's to be a lot of road noise, more so when im slowing down is this normal? Mind you they have only done 40miles so not scrubbed in yet. Steering response is much better then the conti's and they feel grippy even at this early stage. Just hoping when they bed in the nosie level will drop. Im running them at 30psi which i found good for the conti's not to sure about the falkens yet though.

Mine took about 500 miles to scrub in and I didn't think they were especially noisy (I came from Michelin Primacy and Conti SC2's), but then I do drive a clattery old diesel so I may have higher noise tolerances

Tyre pressures are a pretty personal thing and I run mine at around 34psi front and 32psi rear, but it's taken some fiddling to find out what works for me.

Thanks for the reply, yeah going to give them abit more time to scrub in but there is defo more road nosie then the conti's. Having said that i noticed today on the motorway i have wheel wobble from 60 - 80mph!!! maybe this is not helping? going to get them re balanced end of this week.

Going to get them re balanced end of this week.

Is it not standard practice to do a balance check after new tyres are fitted?

Or is it that they did try to balance them, but didn't do a very good job?

Again, noise not an issue with my 452s but I'm another one on the dark side!

Any petrol owners running 452s?
