Project Q-Felicia

Jumping about a bit in terms of subject matter here, but I too am doing a 4-pot conversion for my Felicia Rally Car.

I wanted to keep 13" wheels though, partly because I've got 24 of them with various types of tyres on, and partly because I don't want to raise the gearing - low profile Mud and Snow tyres being both expensive and difficult to find, so going for 15"s not really an option, even if I could afford it.

After some considerable time scouring the internet, I did discover though, that a post 2002, non-ABS Hyundai Getz has a 241mm vented front disc with a 4x100pcd and more importantly, a 62mm spigot hole. They are 48mm front to back (compared with the standard Felicia solid disc at 46mm) and fit straight on - even the little countersunk screw hole lines up.

I've not made up the brackets yet, but as the following pictures show, it looks very promising that the whole lot will fit under a 13" wheel, using wilwood powerlite calipers...

i've been busy!

it's all falling into place now though, i've got a rear axle beam coming in a couple of days, gonna look at rear disc conversion and going to have a look at making a rear arb too, trouble is finding sombody round here with a big enough press to bend a piece of spring steel rod that diameter :rubchin:

there's been a slight change of plan regarding the polyurethane suspension bushes, i've secured a really good deal of some polyurethane tubing in shore 80 hardness which has a 3/4" ID, and 1 3/4" OD, so i can adjust the sizes of the other bits slightly to match so that less machining of the polyurethane is required.... only trouble is, it's not blue like all the 'snazzy' ones you get from powerflex...... it's going to be either pale orange or pink :o

a length of shore 80 polyurethane tubing, should be perfect for making the suspension bushes, i've had more silly ideas again this evening.... been thinking about buying a 'block' of this stuff and custom making engine mountings from it :)

very nice.

i think a rear engine mount would have the best results. i think doing all three would make it abit to direct, if you know what i mean

as for the heat treatment, what grade is the steel? i'll run it past the heat treaters we use from time to time, and see what they say.

i spent a fair old while in the breakers yard today amongst other things, now, it appears that the front suspension struts from a mk3/mk4 ford escort are a direct fit on the felicia, i've been in touch with avo and they say they will supply them individually rather than as an entire kit, they come in at

some good work been done there on those brakes Tom

reading through some of the pages of this thread , its amazing what parts off completely different manufacturers actually fit on a Skoda , you'd expect some VAG stuff perhaps , but Escort shockers
