  2. I have a 2010 black vrs hatch and plan on getting the wheels powdercoated black as well but can't decide whether to go matt or gloss, has anyone any pics that may help me decide. Ta
  3. As the title says, I have changed the CV's and my car is still making a grinding/knocking sound when turning left under acceleration. Can anyone think what else may be the issue as I am stumped?
  4. Yes the hub nut is off, I am actually considering just cleaning it out and rebooting it, it's only my fishing car anyway so doesn't get much use
  5. I am trying to remove the outer Cv from my hub carrier to change the complete driveshaft, however, i have come a cropper as the outer CV will not budge. I have tried soaking in plusgas, heat, tapping, then resorting to 'controlled whacking' all to no avail. I have removed the hub carrier from the car and the drive shaft from the CV so I could have a go on the bench. I had the same problem when doing the other side and tried using a hydraulic press but that ended up snapping the hub so I ended up having to buy a new hub and dont want to repeat that if I can help Can anyone give me any help or are there any 'special tools' on the market for this? Thanks graham
  6. Hi I have noticed that my car is making a grating / knocking sound from what appears to be the nearside front footwell area when turning left under acceleration (wheel has reduced load). I have checked the usual CV joint and bushes etc but can see noting out of the ordinary, can anyone advise me if I have missed something? Thanks Graham
  7. Gonna give that a shot, thanks for the advice
  8. I have a 2.0 petrol octavia AQY engine and the temp gauge only registers a temp above 50 deg c rarely. It sometimes does it if left idling but in general driving it is very rare. I changed the stat today hoping that would cure it but no change. I checked the old stat and it is fine. Is there anything else I should be looking at? Thanks Graham
