  1. Hi all, my wife's 2020 4X4 Edition seems to have a duff USB socket. When a phone is connected for Carplay or Android Auto the cable is hugely positional. I've tested it with different cables and the issue remains, leading me to believe it's the socket and not the cable. I have used compressed air and a pick to make sure there is no debris in the socket, and I've sprayed with contact cleaner. Neither of these have helped the situation. I think I'm going to need to replace the socket completely. Would this be a warranty job, the car is just about to turn 3? If it isn't, how difficult is it to remove the existing socket? I've looked on YT and can't find a video or a tutorial anywhere. I'm not phased by removing trim, I've stripped the dash out of my A Class and my Focus previously. I just don't want to remove more than I have to. If anyone can advise then I would be extremely grateful. Jon.
  2. Thanks @Westie_vRS I had been double pressing the button and holding it on the second press which is why it wouldn’t work - that’s how I had to do it on my previous Mondeo. I followed your instructions and it works now, the pano roof also opens. im going to look into the LED lamps for the rear, do they require coding for the flicker or will CANbus error free bulbs do the job?
  3. Thanks for the information, I will grab a set from Ali then and get them in. Due to the space there and the fact I can’t solder then I’ll probably use scotchlocks, if there is enough length on the wire though I may try and make some kind of plug. ive not read the post about the reverse lights, I haven’t looked at my own. On the spec list it said it had ‘high functionality’ LED tail lights so assumed they wouldn’t already be LED. I also thought that the Driver personalisation feature was standard on the Edition, it said it on the spec sheet but mine didn’t have it. I’ve enabled it now anyway myself, along with High Beam Assist and a few other things too. The virtual Cockpit is awesome, the only thing I wish it had was the Adaptive Cruise. It’s seems to have everything else. i need to figure out the power tailgate, is it meant to close via the key or just open? And can you open/close the windows using the button on the key?
  4. Hi Westie Did you just pop the welcome light out at the bottom of the door or did you have to remove the door card? Just picked up my 2019 Karoq Edition 4x4 and it's beyond me why they didn't fit these to such a well specc'd car. Also, I don't suppose you know which wire was pos and neg do you? Jon
  5. Would Skoda need to ‘tell’ the car that it had different size tyres than it left the factory with?
  6. Dad’s new 1.5tsi 2x4 is coming with 215/50R18 no tyre manufacturer offer an all season tyre in this size. My dad is really keen to put all season tyres on, he won’t be persuaded otherwise so what are his options? 1. Using the current 18” rim could he put on a different size tyre safely i.e. 235/45R18 without voiding warranty or insurance? 2. Drop down to a 17” Rim and try to keep the rolling circumference and diameter as similar as possible? Again without voiding warranty, insurance and compromising safety. any pointers on a suitable size swap would be great. any advice is greatly appreciated. @WillWord
  7. I’ve read up on the ‘issues’ with the DSG box being a little ‘laggy’ in town driving, similar to most DSG boxes really. Once you get used to the way the car behaves I doubt it will be an issue for him. Previous to this they had a 2.0tdi DSG Tiguan and they currently have a 6mnth old VW Polo SE L 1.0 DSG so they are no stranger to the VAG auto boxes. Thank you for the heads up though, much appreciated. i wonder if there is anyone local to Preston/Garstang that has VCDS or OBD11?
  8. THank you for your responses car is due to be delivered at the end of the month
  9. If you have the DSG in ‘S’ does that disable the stop/start? It does in my Ford Focus powershift which is a DCT, I’ll often put it into ‘s’ to make sure I get a smooth getaway.
  10. Hi my dad is looking to place an order for a Karoq tomorrow, 1.5 TSI DSG SE L in Petrol Blue. It’s a cancelled order and will be in the country in a few weeks. One of the options the original customer added was the Driver Assistance pack, the brochure is a little ambiguous when it comes to the rear traffic alert though. The dealer is going to confirm wether or not this includes the RTA, he knows that without it my dad won’t get the car. Dealers can be a little ‘creative’ sometimes and then when the car arrives they can say ‘oops, it doesn’t have it’. A lot of people have said “I think it is bundled in with Blind Spot Warning” but that is just what they ‘think’. So does anyone have a definitive answer, did you add the assistance pack and did it include RTA? Thanks for looking.
  11. ^^^what he said. With the freezing weather we've been having it's possible your screenwash has frozen in the pipes and potentially expanded and ruptured one of the pipes. It could have happened anywhere so firstly I would visually inspect what you can see, then check that when you use the screen wash that the front and rear nozzles are working and if they are what is the pressure like? Finally have someone activate the washers with the bonnet up and see if you can see any obvious leaks while the motor is powering the pump, check the engine bay from above and below. I would also lift the boot carpet and make sure there is no water collecting in the spare wheel well. Check the passengers side front carpet for and wet/damp spots too.
  12. Hi. That's an unfortunate set of circumstances, you would expect them to at least get the repair right before returning it to you. All your legal rights are set out in the Consumer Rights Act 2015 particularly here http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2015/15/section/24/enacted points 5 & 6. Make sure anything you do from here on in is documented, either by way of registered mail or email. If you make any agreements or you impose any terms verbally follow it up with a retrospective email, to the tune of 'further to our conversation [time/date] it is my understanding we have agreed [A, B & C] if this is not an accurate reflection of our discussion please let me know'. Failure for them to respond is them agreeing. If the car is on finance then your rights are a little different, again this is all detailed in the CRA 2015. I would hope they have got you in a courtesy vehicle whilst yours is away. If when you return to collect the car it is not up to the standard you are willing to accept, then do not under any circumstances take the car away with you while you come to an arrangement with the garage. This action could later come back to bite you, taking the vehicle on the day you did would also be something to have avoided but they have taken it back now so it's all good. Do not take the vehicle until you are completely satisfied and the job has been carried out in its entirety. If and when you do agree to take the car back then make sure the dealership reimburse you for your time and inconvenience, call it a gesture of goodwill on their part, a free service and MOT when the time comes next year. It costs Skoda UK nothing, that cost is absorbed solely by the garage and as it's their mistake it is at their discretion. Again, if that is agreed get it in writing. I hope the matter is resolved to your satisfaction and welcome to the forum. It's a shame your first post is so annoying for you but I'm sure you will get lots of useful advice on here. I no longer own a Skoda but I'm sticking around because all being well I will be back in the fold soon. jon
  13. If it's a problem with the Bluetooth sharing have you tried deleting the cache and data in the Bluetooth sharing? Also, try running the phone in Safe Mode and connecting to the car as normal and trying to play music. If it plays first time then there is a third party app causing the problem.
  14. Did you say you have turned the phone off and back on again? Are you streaming from the stock android music app or Amazon music or Spotify? My Note 3 worked most of e time but sometimes it would just not behave. Rebooting the actual phone used to help. 2 other things to try, 1 try a different phone (as above) - not one you have used before so ask a friend or family member to try their android phone. Then delete ALL the phones and even do a factory reset if you can. 2 if you can try to connect your phone to a friends car or other Bluetooth receiving device like a portable speaker or sound bar at home. That way you can rule out a problem with your phone and a problem with your car if both options work then it is a communication problem between your car and your phone only as individually they both work. Oh, last thing to try and it's a long shot but jump in the car with the music already playing on the phone then start it up and see if it just connects from there.
  15. As Wonky says pull out the section of grill to the left of the blank and you 'should' be able to get the blanking plate out. The fog light assembly is held in with a clip on the unit itself so I see no reason that the blanking plate would not. I was 'creative with the wiring and made my own loom. Not hard IIRC but can't completely remember, I think I used a selection of spade conectors and did it that way. If you want to use a proper block I believe this is the correct one.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171210281239?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
