  1. It was more that people who have fitted resonated milltek systems have said that it wasn't much louder than standard.
  2. When my exhaust on my tfsi vrs decides to eat itself, I decided to go for a direnza cat back exhaust, but then I saw this... https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F182973690259 The image looked the same and reviews seemed positive on the whole. So for 218 quid I thought why not. It came well packaged Nd looked very nice indeed. The welds seemed clean and came with all the bolts and gaskets needed. Fitting was a doddle, the hardest part being getting the old one off! Being a resonated system, I surprised how loud it was initially, but after few miles and an 800mile round trip it has settled down a little bit, but is still quite vocal. It has A nice deep tone on tick over, I'm sure a milltek will sound l nicer on acceleration but this isn't bad by any stretch. At crusing speeds and low revs its not at all intrusive and the 6 hour trip to Cornwall was quite pleasant. It gives nice little burbles on changing gear or on the over run too, so for 218 quid, I can't fault it.
  3. An old post I know, but my exhaust is beyond repair so considering the direnza option to fit myself. Just wondering how it sounds? Cheers
  4. Where abouts are you? And how does the heat shield fit? Thanks
  5. I'm sure there are, but currently the budget doesn't allow for expensive modifications this minute. The body work is surprisingly tidy and the wheels are immaculate too, so scruffy badges let it down. And for the sake of 30 quid to replace a few tatty bits seems ok to me.
  6. The first thing to do is a cheap one, I'm going to take the 'octavia' badge off as I don't like the font and put some new badges on. Now there are the £7 ones on eBay, but are they noticeably poorer quality than genuine ones? I'll be doing a full set with wheel caps.
  7. Picked up today, very happy with it so far. The dealer gave me the old cambelt and waterpump in the new boxes along with the euro car parts invoice so am happy with that. So now its on to the tinkering and tweaking part! It does sound meatier than expected, I'm wondering if the previous owner did the precat delete already, or I just expected it to sound similar to my old mk1 which wasn't that exciting when it came to exhaust sound!
  8. Well they said their parts come from euro car parts, so I'll ask for copies if invoices to make sure.
  9. I'll be calling first thing in the morning to ask them to keep the parts and ensure the Invoices are kept for the parts.
  10. If I'd had a pen with me I would have done, I guess a brand new belt with zero use should be easy enough to identify??
  11. I've finally bought a pre facelift petrol vrs, I collect it mid week this coming week. I feel I've negotiated a decent deal, part of that includes cam belt and water pump change, is there anyway I can check it's actually been done?? Looking forward to tinkering with it, my initial plan is a head unit upgrade to something more modern, pre cat delete and a full set of decent tires, eagle f1s likely.
  12. As I continue my search for a VRS, I have found a couple of cars in budget. One is a pre FL car, under 100,000 miles one owner full history, the other a FL car, but with 133,000 miles and I'm awaiting a reply regarding history. They are within a couple of hundred quid of each other. From what I can gather, the tfsi is the more reliable, and once I've upgraded the stereo there won't be much difference between the two apart from looks. The face lift does look better, but if there is no evidence of a chain replacement, i would probably be wise to spend 6-700 quid on having it done. opinions?
  13. Just a long shot, but I'm looking for a mk2 vrs and have found a couple down Manchester way that I might go look at that are at dealers. But I've found a privately owned one with the mentioned registration and wondered if any one on here knew it? It has stage 1 map but the owner is unsure where it was done, and a decat pipe. I'm happy with the map if its a decent one, rather it was sport cat than decat for the MOT though! Thanks in advance!
  14. Decided against this one, the dealer wasn't prepared to budge on price and it wasn't exactly a tidy example when it came to the bodywork! Interestingly the aircon worked on the test drive though!
  15. So I'm on the verge of returning to an octy vrs having had a mk1 a couple of years ago. I've found a one owner car, low miles with some minor bodywork blemishes but nothing serious. However the aircon does not work, I've read on here it could be the compressor. The dealer has agreed that it would be regassed before I took it along with a service, but how much of an issue is the compressor if that's the case? Easy diy?
