  1. They are very good. I have used them in heavy snow in the past on a different car and put a new set on my vrs last winter. You don't need snow to see the benefit, they have much more grip than the stock continentals in cold weather.
  2. I had that years ago on a Fiesta, it was down to grit in a universal joint in the steering column. Alternatively it could be an overtight or ungreased bearing that is sticking (I don't know how the steering column and rack are put together on the Octavia), or it could be as mundane as tyre wear, tyre pressures or tracking being out.
  3. Morning and welcome. I can't help with your query though I'd like to confirm this forum is at least as helpful as civinfo, which I used to frequent before changing to the Skoda.
  4. Personally I'd want to know the unit was unlocked and erased before i bought it.
  5. Typical, I bought one new last week and now 2 used ones come along at once.
  6. I had aftermarket sensors colour coded and fitted by a dealer as part of the deal when I bought my VRS. The full price they wanted for it would have been £299 if I hadn't negotiated a discount as part of the purchase of the car. The sensors work a treat.
  7. A3's are available with a V speed rating. I don't think the D3's are
  8. I went for Nokian WR A3s specifically as they come V rated.
  9. The clutch should be smooth on the diesel as it is in the petrol. Vibration through the clutch pedal can relate to the DMF wearing out and I'd get it checked out.
  10. I haven't had a revo map but I can strongly recommend Troy at Northampton Motorsport. He tuned a Westfield on his rolling road for me a few years ago which wasn't running right. After the visit, which included, fitting trumpets and a TPS to the carbs the car ran sweet with a marked improvement in power and torque. Even though revo in Daventry is nearer for me I'd consider going back to NMS for a remap. I can say that at the time I was running a p-torque stage 1 map on a Seat Leon 1.9tdi and I was very happy with that.
  11. I looked into this when buying my fl vrs. I found the diesel's to be more common, higher mileage and dearer to buy but cheaper to fuel. Petrols are dearer on fuel but cheaper to buy. I do 16K to 20K per year and worked out that I'd probably break even over 18 months or so and went for the one I preferred to drive. Hence I now own a 2.0 TSI VRS
  12. +1 though i got mine through detailing world as pointed to by civinfo.
  13. Seriously be careful not to overload. I did that to a mondeo a few years ago loading it up with floor tiles and figured I'd drive slowly. I ended up with 2 knackered shocks.
  14. Hi all, I pick up a FL Octavia VRS on Friday and can't wait. I've been nosing around the forum and am already finding useful information on here.
