  1. 80mph in 6th is what, 2,200rpm? Hardly red-lining it, is it?
  2. Tesla Model S P85D, nice family car, zero carbon emissions so no company car tax.
  3. Two young children? Get an estate with leather seats. Not sure how many miles you'll get out of a TSI, but 500 miles between refuelling stops with the TDI is also a bonus when on long journeys with kids, especially if they're sleeping. So these are the practicalities. If you want more grunt, get the TSI, but I always found that I needed two cars at that stage (young kids) - one practical (the Skoda?) and one for fun (Caterham 160?) Happy to help
  4. Tyres aside, I reckon you're flooring it a bit harder on left turns than you do on the right turns. It's a natural thing when driving on the left.
  5. Mine got an ECU update a couple of weeks ago when it was in for its 10k service. No specific recall though.
  6. I spec'ed a fair few extras but 6 months in, I'd say... Essentials I spec'ed: spare wheel, satnav of some sort, variable boot floor (if estate) Essentials I didn't spec: Canton Personal must haves: leather + heated seats, DSG + ACC, Xenons (standard on my car)
  7. I didn't think there were any glitches apart from a shortage of parts, as it was pulled from the UK market only.
  8. ACC is ideal for long, busy, motorway runs, great for 30, 40, 50 limits, brilliant in M25 traffic that alternates between 15 & 80 mph and really takes the strain away from 4+ hour journeys. It's now on my list of "wouldn't be without it" driver aids (a list that probably started with electric windows in the 80s). Not seen any of the ill effects mentioned earlier, but maybe it's all in how you use it*. I don't believe the crisp packet stories, although I have had a leaf settle in front of the radar, and I got a warning that the sensor was blind and ACC deactivated. *car in front going slower - I want to slow down, obviously. Unless I can overtake, then I'll overtake. *car pulls in front after overtaking, and continues to pull away - no effect on my speed *car fills gap - I want a gap, but it is adjustable *A road, yes speed determined by car in front. How else would it be? Besides, I have an accelerator on my car, and a right foot on the end of my leg, if I want to pass. *Car slowing to turn left - that's for me to deal with, not ACC, for it's a judgement call.
  9. Ha ha! Obviously a common loose part. Many thanks
  10. Is there such a thing as a part finder that will show me where a part should go? I've found a black 6cm x 4cm bit of flat plastic, smooth on one side and with 5 clips on the reverse. The part no. is 5G0 886 296. I found it in the rear left footwell and I cannot find where it came from. I had the seats down recently, to carry a chest of drawers, so it could be anywhere rear of the front seats, I guess, and it should obviously be filling a hole somewhere, I just can't find that hole! Any ideas?
  11. The references to heavy rain/snow has got me thinking, is the ACC coded to alter it's behaviour depending on the weather? Is the gap to the car in front increased in the rain? Or is it coded for the worst possible case, with loads of margin in perfect conditions? Anyone know? ps - I'm not sure snow and ACC are a good match.
  12. I didn't think people bought Insignias, but they were forced to use them for a month as punishment for being the lowest revenue salesman the previous month. No?
