  1. Wetbury 63 : I love the mk 1 style, its retro and bit classic than the newer ones. We do see quite a lot of Superbs on the road here. I will try to post some photos later. we got a new scrappage policy here in india. so i am going to use it till it reaches 15 years , and then scrap it. I do not wish to sell this car to any one. I love this shape. In fact i have fallen in love with this shape as i noticed quite a lot of Mk 1 Superbs in Australia ( where i used to travel a lot). I have seen similar trend of old Jaguars being used in cities like sydney.... Carlston : hmmm about climate, my car has not suffered like rusting or anything as i live in Bangalore, which is 980 meters above mean sea level. But my skoda went through flood ones, it was my mistake and i didnt gauge the water level on a flooded underpass, and drove straight in to it. Water entered the engine, and Engine piston rod got bent. I bought spares from UK, and rebuilt the engine on my own ( i am an automobile engineer). The Triptronic gear box failed twice ( once after the warranty period was over in 2016), and i have purchased a gear box from a insurance broken Superb Mk1 and fitted. Again the gear box failed two months ago, i've replaced it again with sourcing the gear box from a spare parts supplier. Here broken cars / scrapped cars parts are sold at affordable price. Thanks your support, i got the brake lamp bulbs replaced. Not able to get the tail lamp, hopefully i should get it via Ebay !!!
  2. Dear Carlston, Thanks a lot for your kind help. I will use this information to order Osram ones. Reg the year of manufacture, the cars come to India as CKD and assembled in Indian plant. Mine was assembled in 2009, i bought it in Feb 2010 and registered in the same month. even though manufacturing is over in 2008,. that model will be available in countries like ours for quite some time....Generally last cars of the model cars get deep discount too. To illustrate with an example, last April ( 2020)India migrated from BS 5 to BS 6 after two failed attempts in the previous year, BS6 is like Euro 6 emission norms. The Euro 5 cars were sold at deep discount to make the inventory zero before the deadline for registration.... Thanks once again.
  3. Dear all, Good morning. Greetings and best wishes to you all from Bangalore , India... Logging in to this site after a long break. Need your kind help in choosing rearBrake light bulbs. Since i live in Bangalore, India, i used to get all bulbs via aliexpress. As India has banned many websites of china including Ali express, no more imports are possible from China. So I need to source it from UK,as Indian spec cars are similar to UK spec... Found this in ABD website, 380 Philips Vision Plus 12V 21/5W P21/5W Bayonet Bulbs (Pair). they are ready to ship to India with additional 5 pounds shipping charge. Does this bulb meet the Canbus requirement??, so that i don't get error in dash board!! If you have any other option , kindly let me know. This bulb has bayonet ( double terminal connection), and pins are offset. Over and above this, i am also looking at replacing tail lamp bulbs for Skoda superb Mkl1, 2009 model 2.5 V6 TDI. kindly suggest the model number for bulb and which site provides the best canbus option and shipment to India....thanks in advance. Regards Prasanna
  4. Dear all, My apologies for opening a thread which may not be directly linked to Skoda Superb 1. I am planning to buy a Voyager 9 inch twin screen 9 pm player, to fit in to my Superb 1/Renault Duster ( the player seems to be an universal one where one can remove and fit it in to other cars) I have a Blaupunkt multimedia LCD player fitted in the Superb, and expecting to connect the video link to rear seats. I will be traveling Southampton for two days, and thinking of picking it up in a Electronics stores there. My request goes like this - If any one living near Southampton can suggest me an Automobile/Electronics mall where I can buy this. Thanks in advance. Cheers Prasanna
  5. Resolved - Just thought of updating this thread after driving the Superb for some time post service. The gear box found to be defective and replaced. These gear boxes are not opened (or) serviced in India. Hence a new gear box has been fitted along with replacement of intercooler / radiator assembly. After spending a lot, the car is performing well for the last 250 kilometers after service. The car is running like a brand new one.... The skoda service center at Bangalore, and Skoda India responded well to all my queries and resolved the issue with the best of their effort! Cheers..
  6. Please read the subject as 'Skoda superb I 2.5 TDI V6 gearbox problem with fault codes', my sincere apologies for the spelling error ( gear=ger)
  7. Dear All, The superb was running fine for the last 10,000 kilometres without any problem. I have stopped the car recently for filling fuel. After refuelling, when i started the car, noticed a small jerk when i engaged the gear from parking to drive mode. After few minutes of driving, an error symbol flashed in the bottom of display with all the gear numbers lit, and car moved in to emergency mode. I have managed to reach home driving slowly. I have restarted again next day to take the vehicle to service center, and no error mode noticed for first 30 kilometres, but the same gear error flashed after 32 kilometres and i have reached the service center in emergency mode. The service center suspected transmission fluid loss, and hence replaced the transmission fluid and taken the vehicle for test drive, and again after 30 kilometres same error started flashing during test drive. The error codes in VCD are 17117 35 P0733 Gear 3 Incorrect ratio (lost 23 intermittent) 17117 35 P0734 Gear 4 Incorrect ratio (lost 23 static) Since the vehicle was running fine for the first 30 kilometres, I expect that there may not be any major mechanical failure in gearbox, and it seems like some sensor not sending the correct feedback for gear change resulting in vehicle reaching emergency mode. keeping my fingers crossed!! If any one of you faced this problem, and rectified the same, please help me!!
  8. Dear all, Thanks for your support and prompt identification of the problem. Found oil cooler to be defective, replaced it recently and the coolant warning has stopped. I have imported the original oil cooler from UK ( RBS spares through ebay uk), Part No - SKODA SUPERB, VW PASSAT 2.5 TDI OIL COOLER (059117021B) at 75 UK pounds ( inclusive of air shipment to India), and i have done custom clearance directly through the courier company. I could not do any DIY as i felt this job is for the specialist service center. Took the vehicle to a service center, and they have replaced the pump in 4 hours , flushed the tank and intercooler twice before filling the coolant. Superb is running fine now. Thanks once again for the Briskoda forum...
  9. Hi I think this problem has been discussed before, but I do need some advice on how to go about rectifying the problem. Problem: There is oil in the coolant, and the coolant is brown in colour, with oil trace on the cap. The engine is getting slightly heated up( I can feel it), but the coolant temperature is not crossing 90 Deg C in the guage while driving, the temperature never crossed the 90 Deg C for the whole of last week . The vehicle has run just 28 k kilometres and never faced any problem Diagnosis: The skoda service center in India does not have a compression check to study whether head gasket had failed. The skoda service center is not capable of doing a pressure test on gear pump to study whether it is leaking. The skoda service center is not ready to open the engine cooling circuit to see whether there is a leak there. Solutions offered by Skoda : Option 1 : Replce the gear box oil pump, and few seals, the problem may get resolved ( the basis of this resolution is based on history, they had same problems in few other cars and this solution has worked). Option 2: If option 1 does not yield a good result, then Skoda will replace the engine oil coolant circuit. Option 3: If option 1,2 fail they may check the head gasket. Option 4 : There is no option 4 of checking turbo or anything.... as they do not suspect turbo. My own analysis : I have collected oil sample from engine and gear box, and the oil from coolant and studied for a visual match. The oil in coolant matches a lot with engine oil, so I am suspecting engine coolant circuit. Apart from Skoda technician, I took the car to a local garage who specilises in tuning cars, and the specialist who checked the car (just by checking the engine temperature, has said that the leak may be from the cooling circuit of engine and the oil is entering in to cooling water circuit, he is very confident that the head gasket of this engine may be intact as no presusre built up notice, and no problem will happen to an engine which has clocked 28 k kilometers). I do not wish to go ahead with any solution (option 1, 2, 3) without zeroing on the real problem. Request fellow V6 engine drivers to share their opinion, and whether my approach on diagnosis is right. Also which circuit may have high chance of failure? If engine cooling circuit needs to be replaced, is it just a heat exchanger system where oil is circulated through coil and cooling water flows through the exchanger for cooling. How costly is this part, and is it possible to replace this without much problem? Thanks in advance... Prasanna
  10. Hi Mahesha, I was out of country and came back just now. Could not check messages or login to Briskoda earlier. I can connect you with the Vinayak Skoda Service center, located here at Okalipuram, Bangalore. They are well aware of this problem in 2.5 V6 TDI, and can guide the Pune team to resolve this problem. Message me at [email protected], I will provide you with phone numbers. Cheers...
  11. Hi Cown, Fitting HID in to an existing projector lamp is not street legal in India. But many people do and manage to pay penalty whenever traffic cops stop them in city. Whereas separate HID can be used only in outdoors where there are no traffic from opposite side. So i am trying to use this lamp only in six lane highways or in country side road where there are no traffic from opposite side. I have not fitted the lamps yet, that's why i posted the query requesting people to suggest how to fit it... Thanks for replying.. cheers...
  12. Welcome to the 2.5 TDI world mate. Mine is a 2.5 TDI auto though. But never faced any problem during my ownership. I have read most of the comments here in Briskoda, and understood that there are much more problems in owning an auto mobile in UK than in India. We pay one time life time tax when we buy the car and that's about it ( in some states it is 6% of the basic value of the car, and in some states it can be as steep like 14.5% where i live).... No more taxes during the ownership. The skoda service center manager is a close friend of mine, and he told me that he has never ever faced more than one or two auto gear box failures or a VP 44 problem in hundreds of car that he service in a day. His view is 2.5 TDI is a solid car and never gives any problem. So enjoy you ride and post some photos. If you upgrading the car to Sat nav touch screen, then try out Blaupunkt New york model...

  14. I have also faced this same dilemma, always the front tyres look like they are punctured whenever I park in an uneven surface (very common here in Bangalore) The recommended tyre pressure for V6 2.1 TDI is 38 PSI. I have recently replaced both my front tyres with Yokohama V550 AVS DB Tubeless P 205/55R 16 94 V.( at 17000 kms of previous tyre) The tyre shop guy recommended 40 PSI for front and 38 for rear with Nitrogen filling. I prefer to stick to manufacturers rating, but I left it for couple of days to understand how the car behaves. The tightness in the steering reduced with higher pressure. After a week when I checked the air pressure in a gas station, I have set the air pressure at 38 PSI for front and rear. Now the steering is bit tight. ( the tyre pressure has not dropped from 40 PSI when i checked the pressure, so i deflated a bit to bring it down to 38) I am not facing the tyre pressure dropping within a week to 28 with the new tyres. But it used to be a problem in front tyres with old continentals.. The yokohoma DB tyres are amazing ( I have used them in my civic extensively, hence I have decided to go for it eventhought they are expensive than the stock continentals that Skoda India deliver with). If any one need a picture of yokohama tyre, i can upoad them in the next two days time. I am traveling and not able to take pictures...
  15. It's possible in NH 7 connecting Bangalore to Hyderabad, and you are right..these speeds are not possible in India, but during the test drive we did it for a short empty stretch to test max speed of the car. Superbs are not in vogue in India now, the star for Skoda in India is Octavia and Laura... yesterday Skoda India has officially launched the New Octavia 2013 model. Saw the test car at service centre, and it was really nice.... I am going on vacation for next 2 weeks, thanks for your post.
