Brake disc shield/guard rusted off
Stewpotz replied to JWvrs25's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Removed both fronts and rears, had no MOT issues and has not caused any issues with braking. Pretty sure they are there to stop stones and stuff getting trapper between pads and discs. -
Live in Manchester, but have issues moving away if that is where the work is. CV has been uploaded to many sites, LinkedIn profile has been fully updated. I seem to pass all the testing and then just get we are looking for more experienced workers....even for graduate roles and I am applying with a Masters/postgraduate degree for undergraduate roles

OK guys (send girls). Been away for a good few months due to finishing my Masters degree and spending a good 10-12 hours per day on my dissertation, finally finishing last month and graduating in December. Does anyone work in the industry who could possibly put a word in for me, have been having no luck with any applications over the last month or so.

New tyres & new sound when turning
Stewpotz replied to FollowingGhosts's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Had this with mine, took them for a drive for around 100miles and the noise has gone now. -
Hit one under a bridge at motorway speed, no way of avoiding without causing a hazard tyo other road users. Contacted Highways England straight away and got a form filled out and sent back. Finally got a letter through on day 89 (they have 90 days to reply to the claim) saying that the road was maintained correctly and that it was unfortunate that I hit it between them noticing it and repairing it. The proof was a hand written document which could have been filled out at anytime as the hand writing was all the same and looked like it had been batched completed. I had to pay to get it repaired myself in the end....not exactly happy.

Update: Had a phone call from the guy who actually runs/owns it. Started off saying he was reply sorry for all the issues I have had, and he genuinely sounded it. Will be having a meeting with him to show him what was done and settle it.

I had a similar issue which was caused by the nuts not being nyloc, so managed to work themselves loose over time. I wouldnt worry about a torque wrench just get them as tight as you can.

Try http://www.prestigewheels.co.uk/ http://www.diamond-wheels.net/ Both in Stockport and from what I have seen both do a very good job, prestige had a 458 Italia and AMG-SLS in when I went round,

Diamond wheels or prestige wheels are roughly the same price, maybe £10-15 per wheel more, but finish is better and look a lot more professional.
