  1. Yeah i was hoping to avoid flushing it all out but i think you're right. maybe not overkill though, just me being lazy. Seems like it's the proper way of dealing with it. Thanks for mentioning the thermostat too, hoped to just replace the housing but the ones from eurocarparts all have new ones in them anyhow, not a bad thing i guess though. It's the first time dealing with the cooling system but you've given me everything i needed to know so thanks a lot for all the help.
  2. Thanks for replying, yeah i'm not too happy about plastic bits being in there. If you or anyone else has any suggestions of how best to remove them please share. Thanks for the pictures but to be honest i think thats a different thermostat. Luckily my local euro carparts people offered to order in the three types of thermostat they sell and i can go there tomorrow and with any luck they'll have a match for me. As i said though any suggestions about removing the bits in the engine would really help. Thanks for your help.
  3. Oh yeah thanks, my bad. Meant to put it but i forgot. It's a 1997 petrol 1.3 mpi. Deffinately one of the skoda engines rather than the vw ones too. Wasn't on my car bit cause it's not my car but i'll add it anyhow, makes sense. Thanks for mentioning.
  4. Hello, recently replaced the radiator on a family members felicia and now the plastic tabs holding the thermostat in place have decided to break too wich seems to of resulted in coolant spraying out around the temp sensor, just after filling with new coolant . . . It seems the plastic bits have gone down the engine, is there a chance these will do damage? After some reading i have a few questions, first is i read cheap ebay ones arn't always great so any suggestion of where to get one would be great? I'm only really looking for the empty casing if possible. Found this on eurocarparts http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Skoda_Felicia_1.3_1997/p/car-parts/car-cooling-parts-and-car-heating/cooling/thermostat-housings-gasket/?200440221&1&8fa7ec7aacea37678acd3aa3a2a92618f50a20ba&000575 but the pictures entirely different so not sure if it's a generic picture or not. I think i have all the parts of the thermostat in the picture below? In the haynes the picture looks like the thermostat has a pin looking thing coming out of it, just wondered if the hole in the end is meant to have anything poking out? Thanks for reading. Edit: If anyone has a part number it would be appreciated too, thanks.
  5. I've already ordered the other ones off ebay but if they don't work i'll send you a message. Thank you though.
  6. Ah thank you, a part number is very usefull. Unfortunately i can't find any in stock except a czech site that doesn't seem to do paypal. Haven't tried a dealer parts place though. Seeing as it's only a few quid i think i might buy these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20x-Grey-Fir-Tree-Spruce-Button-Plastic-Trim-Panel-Clips-9-10mm-Hole-18mm-Head-/290917244566?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43bc04de96 and "adapt" them to fit. I'll leave a post with the results incase someones searching in the future. Thanks though.
  7. Hello, i've been looking around and can't seem to find anything, maybe i'm just not looking in the right places so i'm wondering if anyone knows where to get these clips, this one came off the boot trim peices on a felicia. I'm mainly looking for a website rather than going to scrapyards or parts dealers, thanks.
  8. When i was reading posts about my own question i remember someone who said they'd bought one and it didn't fit. That said i did also read comments where people said it would fit but none said they'd tried.
  9. Great thanks for the replies, noticed more facelifts than non in the scrapyards so with any luck i'll find an m.o.t worthy screen from one of those. The car doesn't seem to leak luckily but i'll check for rust anyway and hopefully the seal from my car or the donor car will be good enough to reuse otherwise i guess it'll be an aftermarket one if the genuine ones arn't available. Thanks again. Also uma1998 you replied to my first post on here but i wasn't back on till now so sorry for not replying. The issue with the lock i was looking to buy was a three pronged bit (broke) that a circular spring presses against to centre the lock barrel after locking/unlocking, if you or anyone else knows the bit i mean i wondered if it breaking is a common problem on the early locks? Thanks.
  10. From a bit of reading i'm assuming the screens are the same on both types of felicia but wanted comfirmation from the people who will know if anyone could be so kind, thanks.
