  1. The 1.5 TSI has now come up as an option in Germany on the configuration tool both as Manual and DSG. are the first ones delivered in the UK, any feedback?
  2. Hi Scott, thanks for that, checked it out after your info. So 1.5tsi is will be, I think as always wait for service pack one though.
  3. Thanks for all the information on your test drives and some of the extras to consider. I will be in the market next year, 1.4 tsi and with dsg and the forum helps me to think about the pros and cons of each.
  4. Thanks for that report, it looks like the 1.4 will be my next car, be a couple of years still. Till then I will get by with the 1.2 which fitted my needs when I bought it.
  5. Look forward to your one month in report. The 1.4TSI DSG is on my wish list for my next car in about 2 years time (unless a really good offer shows up).
  6. I have a 1.2TSI as well, no DSG, I have a 200 mile commute Monday mornings and back Thursday nights (German Autobahn 90 - 100 MPH cruise) , short drives during the week get by fine. Next time I will go for the 1.4TSI with DSG because of the longer journeys.
  7. I have an emergency repair kit and I carry one of my "out of season" tyres as a spare, I just do not fancy 30 MPH on a winter night and trying to find a replacement tyre 100 miles from home.
  8. Interesting discussion, here in Germany it is not law to have winter tyres, however if it is below 7 Deg and you have an accident the insurance make you partly responsible, also if you are unable to move off in snow / ice because you have summer tyres you get fined if you get caught. Like a few people here I have been thankful more than once that I had them fitted.
  9. I have just swapped cars with the wife, she had the 1.2 tsi and I had an Astra 1.6. I have recently started to do quite a bit of autobahn driving thus the reason for the swap, much quieter and more relaxing to drive at 150 KMH, so I would think a vrs would have no problems.
  10. Cant cost more than your life is worth.........
  11. I have a 1.2 TSI estate, 4 adults with luggage and a ski box on top on the German motorways cruising at 100 MPH no problem. Took some effort on the hills at time, we got everywhere safely and comfortably. If I was doing more distance daily would probably think about the 1.4tsi.
  12. I took my own oil at the 2 year service and saved €100 here in Germany. (Authorised dealer) could not believe it.
  13. Mine was missing the double floor in the boot of the estate, mistakes do happen, but the car was not prepared for handover properly and the sales guy tried to get away with a sorry cant help you further. I went to management and got a set of roof bars and a box on top of another 200 euro worth of door and boot protectors. Dont bother speaking with the Monkey go straight to the organ grinder.
