  1. No need for axle stands. Only things likely to suffer are the battery, (either trickle charge it, or disconnect it) and the tyres. If someone can roll it forward for you a few inches every couple of weeks, then back every couple of weeks. Sorry to hear of your health issues. Wishing you a speedy recovery. :-)
  2. Car arrived today, very pleased, will post up some pics when I've got a chance. :-)
  3. It's been about 3 years since I last frequented Briskoda! Time flies. After a long wait for it to be built, I've spent the last 3 years in an Octy Estate VRS 2.0 TSI Manual in white. Loved the car, it's been trouble free, fast, fun and immensely useful. I had to choose something new, and looked at a number of different cars...just couldn't find anything that offered the same plus points as the VRS, so have gone for another one. My main issue with the TSI was fuel economy and towards the end I wasn't using it's performance, which was a waste. So, I've switched to the dark side and gone for a dirty diesel, which hopefully I'll be able to drive a bit more briskly without it costing me a fortune! On order is: VRS TDI DSG Estate Black Magic Alcantara Canton Heated Seats Tow Bar Black Pack Eta: I forgot to mention, I'm not that bothered about the split lights. Yes, I prefer the old ones, but I don't think it's a big deal. It strikes me that the darker the car the less you notice the split between the lights. You also don't see it when you're driving! :-)
  4. Having had a further look, the damage is literally only to the very inner edge of the rim where it's not painted anthracite, and really quite minor. I can't see it costing 3 figures hopefully. I'll try pristine wheels Keith, I drive past them almost weekly, so I had them down on the list. Also been recommended Perfect Paint in Blakelands, apparently that's where VW take their cars.
  5. I live in Hertfordshire, but work in Milton Keynes/Bucks area.
  6. Umm.. She will def pay for it, she's even offered to. I doubt she expects me to take her up on the offer though but it will make her more careful next time, especially at £100 a time.
  7. I've had the car 6 weeks and the first time the Mrs uses it properly for a week while I was away she kerbs one of my wheels. I'd told her to be overly cautious as they are so easy to kerb and said if in doubt stop and leave plenty of room to the kerb etc etc. But no... :-( I hate kerbed wheels, they just look scruffy, and make it look like you don't care and you can't drive. The scar is about 2 inches long and is on the very outside edge of the rim. Although not a major one, I'll always notice it, so I am going to get the wheel repaired. Any idea of cost to repair? It's an anthracite gemini. Thanks, CB
  8. Depends which Skoda you have surely? Show me an A4/3 Series/C Class that has the space and performance and standard kit as my VRS for that money. I'm pretty sure you can't, I looked at all those marques before i bought the Skoda, and couldn't get anything comparable. Edit: I should add that mine is a company car. I get a budget, I have to stick to it, and it's done on P11D value, not purchase price.
  9. Umm. I'm biased but I do think Candy White with black pack and anthracite geminis has serious presence.
  10. Just thought I'd update this. My bluetooth connection continued to be a pain, and continually drop out to the point where listening to music via bluetooth just wasn't pleasurable. Despite disabling WiFi, which I thought was the fix. As I was due an upgrade I've changed my phone from the Samsung S3 to an HTC One M8, and the difference is night and day. The HTC provides a faultless stream via bluetooth, it's superb. If all else fails folks, it might be new phone time. :-)
  11. I would be seriously interested in some sort of switchable system. I like the idea of being able to switch it back to standard for dealer visits etc. :-)
  12. Perhaps he hit 88mph and the Flux capacitor did it's job. He's now in 1922.
  13. I switched from a Golf GTI to a VRS TSI and I do around 30k per year, so comfort is important. The suspension is very similar in feel, and the ride is firm as has been said, but not crashy and adequately comfy. The seats are far more comfortable than the golf, they're not as 'buckety' but much nicer for long journeys. The size of the car also seems to make it feel smoother, whether this is true or not I don't know. It's also quieter which is good. I wanted a bigger car, and it's a great size, I can get my MTB in the back without taking the wheels off, nice to have 5 doors too. Can't comment on MPG as it's a TSI but I get around 32-35mpg at the moment for those that are interested.
  14. After a day or two of trying it with WiFi disabled, I'm pretty sure that this is the problem, at least it is in my case. The streaming is really good without WiFi on, and pretty poor the minute I enable it. Bit of a pain to turn it on and off all the time, but at least I can listen to music happily now.
