Rear wiper not working - suspect wiring
GuardianAngel replied to GuardianAngel's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
OK thanks. I was testing it with the rear boot door open -
My rear wiper has stopped working so armed with a multi-meter, I checked out a few things: The fuse is good, I even swapped it with a known working one and still no joy. I remove the rear panels and checked for any leaks from the rear washer jet, and there are no signs of leaking (the rear washer works fine). There is no voltage across the terminals in the fuse holder, which does not seem right to me. The rear wiper motor plug has four wires; brown, purple, green/white and green/red. Whether the wiper is switched on or not, I get the following voltage readings:Brown to earth (wiper motor bolt head): Zero All other wires to earth: About 5 volts. Not being an expert in Octavia wiring at all, does this seem right to you? I am trying to rule out the motor being faulty. I guess the next step maybe to take the motor out and bench test it, but I don't know which terminal I should be applying power to and which is the earth (the casing?). I have a mk2 Octavia Estate TD2.0. Many thanks Justin

This is driving me bloody mad! How hard can it be? Been searching and Googling for over an hour... I am trying to work out what rear brake pads I need for my 2007 2.0 TDI DSG (Estate), and Euro Crap Parts comes back with three sizes in the listings, all for different pad sizes. I took the rear wheel off to try and measure the size of the disk and it comes out about 262mm, but I would not take this as accurate as I was doing this by eye by holding up a tape measure. So, does anyone know which size it will be on the rear? According to this: http://workshop-manuals.com/skoda/octavia-mk2/brake_systems/technical_data/brakes/brake_variants_and_their_assignment/ ...it looks like the rear disk size is probably 260mm, so not Bosch but a Lucas brake system. ECP has these part numbers listed: 101440328 (Lucas) 101441178 (Lucas) 101441778 (Bosch) Any ideas, answers gratefully received

ABS / ESP light and ABS switch lighting up
GuardianAngel replied to sparra's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Yes, either the sensor has gone or the reluctor ring that is part of the hub is faulty. I have just replaced the sensor on one side but the light is still on. So it looks like a new hub is needed. -
My Octavia as gone into limp mode a few times in the last few months and it is reporting a P0234 error code as shown below: From doing some research it looks like a knackered turbo unit. I also get quite a whistle going as well! I would like to get a recon unit with a warranty and fit it myself. Never done one before but I am pretty competent with cars. So how long would it take on average to replace it and are there any pitfalls I need to know about?

I have tried Googling this but can't seem to get an answer. I changed by front disks and pads today and being a ham-fisted muppet, I busted the sensor plug that the front pad sensor wire connects to (look side). The wires are still connected but the bit that sits in the hub lug has separated. For now I have put a load of instant gaskit around to prevent water getting in to the bare wires. So, does any one know the part number of the loom, and likely cost? Even better, does anyone have one laying around? My car is a 2007 Octavia TDI 2.0 DSG (Estate). Thanks in advance.

Well, an update. It works! What did I do? Nothing! Left it a few days till I got some trim removal tools ready to take the cluster out, and thought I would just try turning the car over just in case. Well, the cluster all lit up but the battery was almost flat and the engine would not fire up. After jumping off my other car it started and has been fine since. I have read that water can get in behind the dash and that may have caused the issue, but I see no obvious signs of water. Maybe having the trim out for a few days allowed it to dry out? But thanks to all that posted to help me out :-)

First of Hi all, my first post here. This is a two part question. First of all I have a 2006 Octavia TDI 2.0 with DSG. I have Googled around but can't quite find the answers I am looking for. Today when I tried to start the car, it would fire up, but then cut out after about two seconds. The dash cluster LED display had some corruption (random pixels showing) and none of the dash lights are working. I am guessing that the engine is cutting out because the immobiliser is some how kicking in due to the failed cluster (I take is the two systems are linked?). So my first question, would you agree this sound like a malfunctioned cluster unit, and replacing it is likely to fix the problem, i.e. I am not over looking anything else, apart from maybe a loose connector at the back, which leads me to my next question... ...how do I get the cluster out! I have attached a photo of it so far, with the two screws at the bottom taken out (marked by the red lines), but it seems very stuck. I had a mechanic friend around today who could not remove it (then it got dark). So, again, what am I missing? Many thanks in advance.
