Thanks for the reply. It was replaced in 2007 and has done 50k miles. If this needs replacing as you suggest what would be a reasonable cost?

How easy is it to examine the timing belt to see if it needs attention. If it was changed at 41k when would you expect to replace it again. Many thanks fred

I have a 2002 Octavia and the sun roof become noisy when I get to about 60 - 70mph. This is obviously air bowing through a gap somewhere. Is there a simple cure for this problem?? Many thanks

Hi. Just registered as I have acquired an Octavia 1.9tdi. Was scanning the web and cam across this forum and must say it is just what I need. Not being familiar with Skodas I'm sure the site will come in handy. My car is circa 2002 so will suffer some problems. Look forward to reading the o posts. cheers fred
