  1. Thanks to you all, some great advice as I had hoped for. Cheers.
  2. Thanks for your replies. It did cross my mind if being a 4x4 made any difference.
  3. I drive a 2013 Superb Elegance 170dsg 4x4 estate which has 225 40 18 wheels and tyres. I have been thinking for some time about changing to 16" or 17" wheels and tyres, preferably 16" with all season tyres. I recently mentioned this to my local dealer and was told not to change as my car was set up for the original sizes and any change would result in problems or even damage to the car. I find this strange as other models come with 16" as standard. Any advice or comments would be appreciated as I would like to change from the low profile 18" tyres. Thanks
  4. The attached photo shows how bad the conditions were. Hope this works as my IT skills are not the best. Only downside was the washing all the Cheshire mud from car and caravan but it was well worth it.
  5. Hi Just thought I would let everyone know how well my new Superb 4X4 recently performed at the Caravan Clubs National Rally. Due to heavy rain the entrance onto our allocated field was very, very muddy. Most caravans and motor homes were having to be towed on and off the site by tractors. Most 4X4 cars managed to tow their caravans through the mud although several got stuck, I even saw a X5 being towed out. I was concerned about the 18" low profile tyres but undeterred I thought I'd have a go and amazingly the Superb carried on pulling my caravan through the mud without any problem at all. Even the marshalls and gathered crowd were surprised to see the Skoda estate treading where others had failed to go. Having previously towed with a Kia Sorento I would say from this experience the Skoda is even better. If you have a Skoda 4X4 and get the chance to test its abilities have a go like me you will be surprised how good it is. One tip though is to keep the power on and not to ease off as it gives the rear drive chance to work properly. No wonder it won the tow car of the year 2014 competition.
  6. Have a great time. Just done a 200 mile run with caravan with new Superb estate 170. Towed brilliantly and returned 31mpg, truly SUPERB
  7. All now sorted thanks to Mobile Towbar Services. Rainworth Motors had had them in to fit the towbar but they had been unable to do the re code at the time and I hadn't been told. Came to house and sorted it in minutes would recommend them.
  8. Recently took delivery of a 2014 Skoda Superb 4x4. Paid for factory tow bar prep and they charged £650 to fit tow bar and electrics. Plugged up to caravan for first time to discover reversing sensor still beeping away. Not yet checked re car rear fog lights or trailer stability. Rang them last week about this spoke to service department, didn't appear to know what I was talking about. Said they would call me back, surprise, surprise, no phone call. Not the response I expected after spending £30k on a car. I suspect they have not coded the car after fitting the tow bar electrics.
