  1. Just to echo everybody else don't give up keep adjusting your seat you'll get there in the end, I'm 6ft 4" and it took me a while to get "the" perfect driving position. Regular drives from home across Europe (5 or 6 hours driving in one go) no aches no pains. Your car is far too nice to give up.
  2. Just to put my two penneth in I have had mk1, mk2 and a mk3 Octavia I loved the MK 2 VRS great car then moved to a couple of Superbs fantastic cars, then on to a mk3 VRS got rid after a year not impressed back to the Superb I went much better. Now saving up for a mk3 Superb estate, 280 of course.
  3. I'm off down to my local car dealer, he's got a lovely VW Touareg 5.0 V10 on a 06 plate cleaner than my Superb apparently never mind the 20 odd mpg !!!
  4. Having courtesy of the Armed Forces never had to pay for a TV license for 15 years as I have been in Germany !!! . The thought of stumping up £100 odd quid a year to never watch any BBC channel is quite galling. When me and my gang return to Blighty later this year.
  5. +1 for Rearguards.co.uk(RGM) I had one on my Octy VRS now got one on my Superb. Top quality, looks fantastic, great fit whole heartedly recommended.
  6. Or do as my old dad used to do he's 73 now so he drives very little nowadays "roads are full of knob jockeys no fun". When you have a tailgater just blast on your washers use a few litres of water and at the same time dab your brakes they will move back, always works. Or if you don't fancy that take your foot of the gas change down the gears as you slow down its a new game see if you can get down to second or even first the tailgater would be incandescent with rage.
  7. My number 1 hate. SWMBO and myself were travelling down to Weisbaden last week, and came upon a Eastern European 3 ton van sat doing 40 kph in the outside lane ( 2 lane de restricted autobahn) cars and trucks flying by him using the hard shoulder, as we gingerly got past him there he was totally oblivious to the mayhem and carnage he was causing tapping away on his mobile whilest having a glug of a well known energy drink and a long draw on his ciggie. What a complete and utter moron, I couldn't possibly type up what SWMBO was calling him as she was leaning out the window gesticulating wildly and questioning his parentage.
  8. +2, they are proving a very popular purchase as Wile7 says drill a hole job done.
  9. Newest to oldest 63 plate back through time to 1996 R reg!!. Skoda Octavia VRS TDI estate (mk 3) Skoda Superb 140 SE hatch Skoda Superb 170 Elegance Estate Audi A6 Le Mans editition Estate 3.0 tdi Skoda Octavia VRS Estate (mk2) Skoda Octavia VRS Estate (mk2) VW Golf R32 Skoda Octavia VRS hatch (mk1) Ford Escort 1.8 SI (hatch)
  10. As the title says rear wiper stopped working, it was fine on the way to Harwich ferry port got off many hours later driving from the Hook to Germany it got abit soggy after about twenty minutes of driving put the rear wiper on nothing. That was three days ago it hasn't shown any signs of life as yet which is okay while its stinking hot but sooner or later it's going to be needed. I have had a look on here for similar topics and found a couple all to do with the boot not being shut properly, my boot is of the powered variety so I would of thought that is unlikely. Perhaps it's a blown fuse? I cannot take the car to my local Skoda garage as SWMBO has it and she is a couple of hours away with work. So my fellow Briskodians over to you for possibilities as to why it's packed up. Car is fantastic still think it's way better than a Octy mk3.
  11. After getting shot of my mk3 Octy VRS the things I like best are the refinement, the pano roof the power opening and closing boot lid ( must get it coded to get rid of the beeps) the space the torque of the cr170 engine infact all of it.
  12. This is going to be one popular car makes the "new" Mondeo look old and past it. I can see it now auto tests between a Passat estate and the new Superb load lugger. Superb wipes the floor, Superb no brainer just some of the strap lines. Might get one in a few years see how much used ones are going for. Residual values will I dare say be much better than our Octavia brothers are getting now.
  13. Unfortunately not the Megaberb ( kids description) will be a present to myself when I "retire" from Her Majesties Armed Forces. Still a very rare beastie, I have to make do with video clips on you tube and virtual shopping..... For now.
  14. I've ran various Skoda Octavia's and Superbs in different flavours for 15 years now never had mechanical issues in any of them only things that got replaced were consumables wiper blades, tyres etc. There is certainly nothing wrong with Skoda's.
  15. Ze Germans love that manoeuvre they could be driving a polo but swing out before turning in the direction they really want, no need for it, I have been nearly hit a few times because of this. Also they are so impatient they would (not all of them but the vast majority) rather swerve around for instance someone turning right slowly, into the path if oncoming traffic than pause for a second resulting in near head on collisions. Crazy bunch.
