  1. It's a possibility I suppose although it was only changed recently when I thought the original one had failed. That turned out to be a disconnected sensor elsewhere . Will be worth changing I suppose given it's a cheap and easy fix, it's the camshaft fault code that bothers me the most. Cropping up regularly but doesn't appear to be affecting the actual running of the car, although I might be doing damage, I don't know.
  2. Thanks, had a read yesterday and seemed to involve an awful lot of hassle and dismantling, without really knowing if that is the source of the fault. Not sure I want to go there just yet, would sooner source another SAI pump, stick that in and see if it makes any difference. Had both faults show up together today so am deeply suspicious of the SAI, i've only had these fault lights since i got rid of it.
  3. The oil pick up pipe was renewed about two weeks ago, along with an engine flush as I've read that low/poor oil pressure can be the cause of the camshaft fault. As you point out, both the VVT and SAI are involved in the cold start process hence my suspicion that they're linked. Will have a read up on the chain adjuster, a process of eliminating one thing at a time I suppose. Thanks
  4. Hi, Thanks for the response, appreciated. Have read the Ross Tech explanations but none the wiser as to the root cause, seems to be one fault code after another at the moment which is disappointing as the car is brilliant in all other respects.
  5. Hi, Can anyone assist with a possible explanation on the above codes please ? They are occuring at regular 4 cold start intervals, either singly or together but the car is running fine. I replaced the SAi pump with a resistor some while ago which has been fine and have also fitted a new camshaft sensor, carried out an engine flush and also replaced the oil pick up pipe so am now at a loss as to why these are both occuring. Having searched on here it would appear the two could be related/connected because they're both involved in an initial cold start but I am not sure where to go next with this. Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks
  6. Thanks, was considering that as a last resort. Appreciate the earlier pointer, had a close look and I've discovered that the N112 solenoid had become disconnected so fingers crossed that is the solution. Once again, appreciate the response.
  7. Kentphil 1, Thanks for the response, much appreciated. Are you aware whether the SAI pump can be coded out using VCDS or not ?
  8. Hi, I'm new to vehicle diagnostics so forgive me if I'm asking the obvious but can anyone shed any light on what might be causing a " P0413 - Switching Valve A circuit open "code to be constantly reoccuring please ? Having read the forums I removed my secondary air pump ((and nothing else )before it fell to pieces and inserted a resistor and all was well for a few weeks. It then started showing a CEL on a regular basis so yesterday I replaced the resistor with a new one but the CEL came up immediately again. On scanning, it showed the same P0413 code as before, is there anything else that would trigger this, apart from the obviouly missing air pump ? All advice gratefully received.
  9. Hi all, Apologies if this has been covered before but I haven't been able to find a definitive answer anywhere. Is it possible to have the SAI pump coded out with VCDS or not ? I removed mine before it fell apart and although I put a resistor in the circuit it's still throwing a 17840 code every now and then. Any VCDS gurus out there who can say yea or nay please ?
  10. Hiya, Apologies but I've since sourced the handbrake consol from Kasino, along with his seats, thanks anyway.
  11. Hi, Do you have the handbrake console still, and does the cup holder work ok ? If so, I'll have it thanks, only 10 mins from you so could collect.
  12. Dropped in there today in search of a replacement locking wheel bolt key, having had absolutely no luck with various breakers and tyre fitters. Not helped by the fact that since the key was missing I had no idea of the code, gave them a ring and popped down. Very helpful guy on parts dept., came out with 5 cases of master keys and identified the right one quickly. Ordered up and delivery promised withing 3 days, and cheaper than an equivalent one on eBay so quite happy.
  13. Hi to everyone, New to the forum and Skodas in particular although I've had VAG cars before. Have just acquired a 2002 Octavia 1.8T 4x4 Elegance which I'm pretty impressed with thus far, apart from the three warning lights that flashed up suddenly yesterday. Will be looking for some advice in the Octavia section if possible, always nice to speak with other sufferes lol.
