  1. Update: Apparently it's the water pump, getting it replaced now.
  2. exactly like that - total cost was around 2200EUR (but covered by insurance). And yes, it is me with the fuel pump Any idea if this can be related to the timing chain rattle? EDIT: looking at the picture, I would say that what I saw was even more minor - only the side panels and bonnet were slightly bent, otherwise the front was intact
  3. Ok, that's what I will do - one further observation, the sounds seems to go away when the supercharger kicks in. Details below: 85000km at the moment, had it since 59000km. So far had two regular services at the dealer done, then the oil return tube replaced to remedy oil consumption (now stable around 0.4l/1000km in terms of oil). And yes, as I do tend to fill it frequently it is probably overspill. Left hand drive, first registered 10/06/2010. As far as I know I am the second owner (also according to the documentation). In 2012 it had its high pressure fuel pump replaced, other than that it has been pretty trouble-free experience (apart from keeping an eye on the oil). Two weeks ago it was in a minor collision - hit a car in front of it, got the front bumper, lights and something else in the front replaced, no damage to the radiator/engine (not sure it needed new lights but it was covered by the insurance so I did not argue). After the repair it seemed to be fine but now it developed this scary sound. Do not know about any engine rebuilds - which sticker are you referring to?
  4. Silly question.. but how "safe" is it to drive it around / to the service?
  5. No, it was not cold outside - around 15C. And it's non-stop- clicking all the time, no matter what the engine load is.
  6. Thank you - I've seen those before (I have similar problem in my seat 1.4tsi) but this is different - the noise does not stop when revving, it's still there. It's also a bit louder. My concern is that it could be something to do with a timing chain..
  7. Hi, Last 2 days I've started noticing a very odd sound. It's a sort of metallic clicking sound, coming from the RHS of the engine (when behind the wheel). I've recorded short video of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JL9xIpxg-_o Any ideas what it could be? It's more audible when idle (both on cold and warm engine) but I can still hear it under load (but it's more masked by the other noise). I am quite concerned that it's something serious with the timing chain. The sound is most apparent when going from one side of the engine to another: https://youtu.be/JL9xIpxg-_o?t=74
  8. Hi! I am going to have the pipes replaced soon, however, my extended warranty does not cover the pipes, so I have to pay for the whole thing. Will see if it improves anything and in the meantime will be compiling letter to Skoda asking for compensation, as the "fix" is a replacement of perfectly fine pipes with their improved design, so even if it works I do not feel that I should be paying for their design updates.
  9. Would be great if people added their experiences in more detail here!
  10. Thank you very much for the details! I am tempted to either just pay for the breather pipe and then push further should the engine change be needed and write a letter to Skoda at the same time. Alternatively - is the breathing pipe different than the one fitted originally? If so, than it's not really a fix but replacement with an updated part, which I am not sure why would I be paying for it?
  11. Hello all! I've got an update. I've received a note from the extended warranty company that breather pipes are not covered by the warranty (although they do list "parts related to oil recirculation" in their coverage listing). I am now pondering what to do - the bill for the breather pipe comes to around 380EUR, and it seems that I may need to cover it myself. The question is, to save myself hassle, shall I just pay this one and wait for another test, and if I fail that one, that would mean engine replacement, which should be covered? Also, you say that Skoda was usually paying - is there any case of Skoda paying even outside of the original manufacturer's warranty? Lastly - at the service, they filled the engine with 5W40 - I've got only 5W30 for the top-ups, can I top it up with it in case I get the yellow light?
  12. Hi, I was surprised about the oil too - I've always been filling it with 5W30 as it is on the flexible service intervals. I do not have any more details re. the weights - this is the only document I've got. Is there any way to get information from the ID SEGUN INFORMACIÓN DE MARCA 2030474/2*? Lastly, how do you recommend I describe it to the warranty company? Their initial translation was that this is some kind of air pump and is thus not covered by warranty. In my extended warranty coverage it says that every part connected to oil recirculation is covered, I guess I will make argument there. Alternatively, as this really is not a "new" fault but one from manufacturing - is there any other way to approach it other than just passing the bill and pushing it through the extended warranty company?
  13. Hi! As a part of getting the oil consumption fixed, I had oil consumption test done. Due to me not speaking the local language well, I am having trouble explaining the bill to my extended warranty provider. On the attached image, I understand the first part - the oil, software update + work. However, how are these items related? 03C129721D COLECTOR (NR) 6R0129684E TUBO (NR) (2x) 03C103558A A TUBO PURGA (NR) Found some of the parts in the parts database, but I am not much wiser. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Best, Petr
  14. Hi, I am looking at getting our vRS new set of boots, and I stumbled upon ContiSportContact 5 - found them for around 120EUR a tyre. They have great reviews but are they worth the cost in general?
  15. I think that is the idea - I will pick up the car on Wed and as I understand it it will have breather pipe fitted (or that is what I get from the translation), I will then do 2000km or until the light comes on, then I need to go to the shop and do another weighting. I think the technician is thinking that new engine may be in order, however, he has a protocol to follow before the powers that be will give a green light for such expensive repair. And very similar mileage on mine - mine is on 41k miles... did your first 37k go without trouble for the first owner? Also, I said right of the bat that I did my research and I know this is not an isolated issue - which the tech confirmed after he did his research 30m later.
