  1. Then our magazines differ somewhat... Anyways its still faster than the VRS D.
  2. The 1.8TSI FWD (180hp) with DSG is rated at 7.2 in Norway at least. Feels faster than the VRS diesel as well... Might be the VRS is heaver for some reason?
  3. Its downtuned to be within the limits. The same engine, 1.8TSI, in the Audi A4 is 320Nm. In the Octavia 4x4 1.8TSI with 6 wet DSG its 280. Its probably not 320Nm as transversal mounted DSG with 4x4 is too weak to handle more. Im very happy with the 1.8TSI anyway though.
  4. @meta55b: Its a chain, not a belt. And second I think the water pump is run by the balancer shaft, not the timing chain.
  5. Im using the ones that came with the car. Michelin something.
  6. I have the 1.8TSI DSG (180hp). Which is faster than the VRS TDI at 7.5 secs 0-60 (compared to 8.2). I find it hard to believe the 2.0TSI does not wheel hop though?
  7. Anyone else suffering from pretty bad wheel hop under hard acceleration? Happens mostly on wet surfaces. This is with TC turned off. For those wondering what this is: http://www.mc2racing.com/tech/20061012a/
  8. Got 52L on mine when I had 5km left of fuel. Seems to vary a little the inaccuracy...
  9. The fuel economy is pretty bad. But who cares. In traffic 0.8-0.9L, long trips gives 0.58ish at 80-90kmh. Spirited driving is about the same as traffic. The only drawback is that its a Haldex 4x4, not a proper system like a A6 Quattro has. This is the reason I did not buy it. Tried it, but felt the FWD handled better, less noise in cabin, and added the 7th gear, and I didn't really have any traction issues with only 180HP. The 4x4 is 100kg heavier than FWD DSG fyi.
  10. The clutch will be more vibrated on a diesel, as well, they do vibrate alot more...
  11. I'm very happy with the 1.8TSI as well. Pulls ok for a light car as the Octavia, and I would'nt be suprised if the engine outputs a little more than listed as stated. Dyno's are famous for inaccuracy though, so I wouldnt put too much into it. Especially when you derive the engine HP from the wheel HP . The dyno graph is pretty easy to read. At the bottom you have the RPM listed from 1000 to 7000. The blue line is torque, which you read on the left side. So you can see that it actually provides its max torque all the way from 2000 to 4500. The red line is horsepower, which you read on the right side. By reading the graph you can e.g see that at 4000 rpm the engine is putting out 280Nm torque and 165ish HP.
  12. I guess alot (if not all) 4x4 I've seen are fitted with the rough-road springs then. If I'm not mistake the sales brochure also states +15mm on the last page with engine specs.

  14. I have a 1.8TSI DSG FWD I can measure later. The 4x4 Ive spotted are visually higher than mine though, so I'm fairly confident that they are higher as standard. Anyways except a harsh ride from that thing if you drop it by 40mm. I have owned other cars that became very hard once you drop them that much.
