  1. Hi. I have the orange engine management light on. I scanned the codes and have come up with P067000 'glow plug module control circuit active/static'. I've replaced the glow plug control module and cleared the code but the fault comes back after a few days. Any suggestions as to what else this could be? I've checked the battery (it's less than 6 months old) and it's reading 12.6v so I don't think it's this. I've also changed the glow plugs since they were 10 years old/ 90,000 miles. 1.6tdi cr. Thanks in advance.
  2. Hi, Had my clutch and duel mass flywheel replaced yesterday by a clutch specialist. The car drives and feels much better. However on using the car today I have the exhaust inspection warning light on. The car still drives ok, no loss of power. I've messaged the garage to advise of the warning light, but just wondered if anyone on here could give any pointers as to what it might be. I'm thinking that maybe a sensor has come loose or not been re-connected properly. I've really no idea what's involved in changing the clutch/flywheel. Or is it possible that the warning light isn't linked to the work carried out yesterday? The car is a Skoda Roomster 1.6tdi cr 2010. 85,000 miles on the clock. Thanks in advance.
  3. I've had the same problem. Annoyed me so much I threw it in the bin!
  4. Don't know what all the fuss is about, never had any problems loading my car
  5. Yes I have, it meets VW 507 spec. It's a bit cheaper here http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/cp4l/p/accessories-engine-oil/engine-oils/engine-oil/5w30-engine-oil/?521772221&0&cc5_247
  6. Thanks for replying. The car is a Skoda Roomster 1.6 diesel. I do have a service book for it, perhaps they were still issuing them when my car was produced. I'm am referring to skoda main dealerships. I can understand receiving reminders if a service is due, that's fair enough, but surely you wouldn't expect to receive a reminder once you have had the service done? Perhaps I'm being overly suspicious, but I just think if it had been done it would be on a central system and my local dealer would this and would know not to phone. Is it possible to check the condition of the cambelt visually?
  7. If you had the cambelt changed at a main dealer in one part of the country would this be recorded so that the main dealers in the rest of the country would know? The reason I ask is that when I brought my car the cambelt change was due (the car was 4 years old when purchased) and I negotiated to have this done before I picked it up. However I have just received a phone call from the dealership local to me (I have used them once for a warranty job) saying that the cambelt is due for replacement. I haven't had many positive experiences of main dealers and this has got me thinking it hasn't been done at all Would like to hear your opinions on this, perhaps I'm worrying over nothing.
  8. My egr valve failed at around 30,000 miles. The car is used mainly for my work commute on dual carriage ways and motorways. It does hardly any town driving/ short journeys, we use our other car for those journeys. The breakdown guy who first came to diagnose this problem knew what it would be even before plugging in his diagnostics, he said he seen quite a few of these valves failing and the cause was due to coolant leaking into the electrics of the valve, not helped by it's proximity to heat from the exhaust/dpf.
  9. Make sure you check your coolant when you pick your car up. Had mine replaced a couple of weeks ago and on the drive home the low coolant warning light came on. Stopped to check and the coolant tank was practically empty. The worst thing about this was, when I went back to the dealer the following week they tried to charge me £11 for a bottle of coolant!
  10. I had the egr valve fail on my 1.6tdi 2010 roomster a few weeks ago, fortunately it was replaced under warranty. The breakdown guy seemed to know what the problem was when I described it to him, even before plugging the diagnostics in. So I guess there are quite a number of these failing on engines this age. He said it was caused by heat from exhaust causing coolant to leak into the electrics of the egr valve and is was a garage only job due to the time taken to replace it (lots of other bits need to be removed first). Not something I asked at the time, but does anyone know if the new part has been modified to stop this happening again or can I look forward to a big in 4 years time?
  11. Was the oil hot when you suck it out? If not, it's like sucking treacle through a straw. I made the mistake the first time I used my extractor of thinking a trip round the block would be enough to get the oil warm enough. Took over an hour to get a few litres out. Now I do the oil changes after driving home from somewhere so that it's up to full temp. Takes 10-15 minutes to get 5 litres of oil out.
  12. Thanks for the replies. I'll give this a go soon.
  13. Does anyone know of any guides to changing the fuel filter for the roomster. I have tried searching but there doesn't seem to be much info for this engine (1.6tdi cr). Is it as simple as disconnecting the two hoses, swapping the filter over and reconnecting the hoses? Do you need to fill the new filter with diesel? Thanks in advance.
  14. Morning all. Thinking of buying a used roomster particularly the 1.6 diesel and I have a couple of questions. Firstly I gather it doesn't come with a spare wheel, unlike earlier models. Is there still a space for it in the boot? or has the space been used for something else. Do you still get the jack on roomsters that don't have the spare wheel? Secondly how many litres of oil needed for an oil change? Any particular oil recommended? or is anything ok as long as it meets the spec? thanks in advance for any advice.
