  1. Forgot to say - it's done circa 80k miles. Also, forgive the formatting of my original post, I did split it into paragraphs, but posting from my phone seemingly ignores it!
  2. 2006 Octavia 1.9pd Tdi diesel 6speed DSG Auto. No matter how gently I depress the throttle when setting off from a standstill, it sets off with a jerk - a bit akin to the free play evident from a worn prop shaft joint on the old rear wheel drive vehicles (for those old enough to remember them). Once the engine has reached normal operating temperature the 'problem' disappears and results in a smooth take up of power. Any knowledgeable bods have any ideas on what this is? Regards Keith
  3. My front windows do that too, but only in hot dry weather (not much of a problem in this country then?!) - as reported in another thread - and no amount of WD40/silicone spray/baby oil will quieten it.
  4. I had a similar sized area on O/S/F door, presumably where previous owner scuffed it when opening - I had one of the 'smart repairs' done to it and it cost me £60.
  5. I have a '56 plate Octavia Classic in Storm Blue and, in 45 years of motoring, have yet to come across another car with such poor quality paint lacquer! When I first bought the car there were the odd bits where the lacquer had 'disappeared' (assumed to be due to poor quality repairs, which I had repaired) but, on closer inspection, there are also numerous other areas where lacqeur is missing/chipped. To top it all, this morning there was a small patch of bird **** on the boot lid top, which could only have been on from yesterday at the earliest (I wash and polish the car regularly) I washed off the car and the bird dropping came off, BUT, it had burnt into the paintwork. Even with polishing it hasn't all come out, but I daren't polish any harder for fear of going beyond the layer of lacquer. As I said, I have never had such problems with any of the other cars I've owned previously (amounting to around vehicles 14!!), and am inclined to think that it is a problem with poor paintwork by Skoda - btw, I briefly owned an '05 plate (Silver) Octavia and that had areas of lacqeur missing too! Anyone else had similar experiences/thoughts?
  6. SlightIy off topic but the front door drop glasses on my 56 plate Octavia squeal like wailing banshees when using them on a warm day! Ive tried WD40, silicone spray (and despite covering the area, spent the next hour cleaning up the over spray!), and baby oil - none of which has made any difference, apart from leaving grease marks on the glass! Guess ill just have to wear ear plugs in the car on warm days!
  7. Thanks for your help on this, much appreciated :-)
  8. Oops! Despite attaching photo it's not on the message :-(
  9. 2006 Octavia Classic, couple of places the clearcoat lacquer is peeling. One of these places is NSR lower sill area (see photo), where there has obviously been a previous repair. I notice on OSR there is what I can only describe as a transparent(?) cover to protect the area in front of the rear wheel from stone chips etc and this is missing from the NSR. Is it a replacement part? I've contacted ChipsAway for a quote on the repair.
  10. Quote [Also after reconnecting everything together again i tested my wing mirror adjuster and now, if i adjust the off side mirror the nearside mirror moves at the same time but in the opposite direction] Mine does exactly the same thing, and has done ever since I bought the car! Anyone know why and how to cure it?!!
  11. OK, original car still not ready, dealer being an absolute ar3ehole and evasive. Tracked where the car is and spoke to the guy there, apparently a 'module' is faulty and would cost approx £2k to replace. He's sent the unit to his homeland - Poland - for repair, and it's now on its' way back to him - due to arrive this Saturday. He assures me it will be 100% fixed and will come with 12 months warranty. He's checked the car over and everything else is fine with it. I know that I can legally get my money back, but, the dealer is disputing that fact and says that he doesn't have that cash to give me a refund. I don't want to be travelling to him several times a week to pick up thenodd £100 he and there. The quickest/easiest way out, as far as I can see, is to collect the car directly from the repairer and sell it on. Can anyone enlighten me as to what this 'module' is, and what it does please?
  12. OK, so, having been without the car since 7th Feb - I STILL haven't got it back!!!!! Called him this morning and told him I was rejecting the car, he couldn't understand why and thought I was being most unreasonable!!!!!! Anyway he told me that I have to have the p/x vehicle back, which I told him that I'd sought legal advice and I don't. I've been told to call him Monday to see what cash he's got (I did say he could do a bank transfer). I've since bought a '56 plate Skoda Octavia 1.9TiD Classic with 75,000 miles and FSH - lovely car!
  13. Further update: Spoken to dealer today and it's had the box removed and sent away, as the 'sensor' replacement requires the box to be disassembled - my fingers are still crossed!
  14. Thanks for that, spoke briefly to someone yesterday and they have indeed found a faulty sensor - fingers crossed!
  15. Thanks for your replies............I see I've made a schoolboy error (despite leaving school in 1963!!) and somehow posted this in the Skoda Superb section!!!!! Perhaps the mods can move it to the Octavia II threads
