  1. Coming from a 3 series BMW (6 cylinder petrol) I think the Yeti's pretty good. In town the 170TDI is a bit grumbly but not unpleasantly so. However I'm always aware there's an engine running, unlike with the BMW. At speed the Yeti if anything is quieter than the BMW due to less road noise. With the raised driving position, excellent visibility and strong engine it's a very good motorway car, and I'd be surprised if anyone found it disappointing. I guess what you're coming from is key.
  2. Thanks for the replies everyone. I think it's just my technique as I've been unable to recreate the problem when consciously thinking about gear changes. I've noticed when changing up through the box at higher rpm from 3rd to 4th to 5th the resistance to enter the 5th/6th plane can sometimes be stronger, but that's it. I'd obviously been driving an auto for too long... Thanks again
  3. Hope everyone's having a relaxing Easter weekend. Grateful for advice on a gearbox issue. I had the rare opportunity to take Tibet 2 (2012 170 TDI manual) onto some A roads this weekend, and stretch her out a little. Most of my driving so far has been in London or motorway trips with a baby in the back. On 3 - 4 non-consecutive occasions I couldn't find the 5th/6th plane - each situation was the same - accelerating hard up through the gears, tried to change from 4th to 5th at 3-3.5K and I couldn't get the lever to shift right, and after a bit of fiddling I put her in 3rd again. The feeling on trying to pull the lever to the right was a "spongy" block and on pushing up I got 3rd. The first couple of times I blamed my incompetence at having driven an auto for the last few years (but manuals for several years before), but when it happened a couple more times I thought I'd post. I tried to re-create it driving back on the M40 and could not - the gearbox shifted to the 5th/6th plane each time easily. Am I being a total idiot, or should I ask the dealer to take a look? By the way I'm really impressed with the Yeti and TDI 170 engine. She was great on the motorway through the heavy rain showers.
  4. The sunroof on mine (Tibet 2) is creaking and rattling when closed - sounds like something is loose. The dealer (Allam) is being helpful - they've taken a listen, agree it's noisy and think it needs a special lubricant which they've ordered from Skoda. Said they have another customer with the same issue... Hope that's helpful.
  5. Thanks Aerofurb for your reply and clarifying about the wheels. I'm too new on here to send/receive PMs but will do when possible. How is Tibet 3?
  6. I can report no bronze Yeti's around here except Tibet 2. Had a rather enthusiastic chap waving at me on Saturday on Chelsea Embankment on sat morning, in a nice dark blue Yeti on a 13 plate. Looking forward to the first rendezvous with a bronze Yeti on the road...
  7. Hi Everyone Just a quick post as the new owner of a bronze Yeti TDI 170 elegance, previously owned by another member of this forum. Great to see so many active members on here, and so much enthusiasm for what is a great car. I look forward to contributing a bit more soon.
  8. Hi Aerofurb Yes, picked TIBET II up yesterday! She's a lovely car in great condition, so thanks for looking after her. Think bronze really suits the yeti, and the panoramic roof is brilliant. She has silver alloys now. What happened to the black ones?
  9. Very excited new Yeti owner. Looks like a great car, and love the bronze. 2 days to go 'til pick up...
