  1. It did go to insurance and they want my "events of what happened". But, the lane she was in (lane D) is only a very short lane and she certainly wasn't in that lane when I left my lane to turn left. So she would've even had to "drive on the other side of the road to enter her lane". And at that point, that's where the beeping came from, other drivers telling her not to do that... and skip the line of traffic. But oh well, we shall see. Thanks alan
  2. From the diagram above, I was in lane A, indicating to go to lane C. There was a massive queue of traffic from lane B and the driver at the front of the queue in lane B had flashed his lights to allow me to go and gestured as such. As I began turning into lane C, a megane raced across me from lane D (people beeping at her) and merged straight into lane C (instead of going into lane E). Slammed on the breaks in front of me and I bumped her car. For the record lane D goes to lane E. Lane A goes to lane C. I took pictures at the scene which shows the positions of the cars, you can clearly see the way my wheel was pointed and the way her car was pointed that she cut in from the wrong lane and cut past all those drivers in lane D. What do you think? You can see here the way her car is positioned at an angle, obviously coming from the wrong lane. Hardly any damage to either cars, little bit of paint and that's it. Hardly see it with the eye. Even still, good job I didn't fit my brand new bumper before this (I was going to do it aswell)
  3. When starting engine, after 10-15 seconds the oil light flashes and audio beep three times. The rev counter is also not working. Checked oil level and it is fine, any idea?
  4. Hey, So my instrument cluster is badly broken and corrupt and I need to either get a new one or a used one. Either way, would it need to be recoded with vag-com? I can't just buy one and plug it in, even if immobilizer is disabled? I had a look at one on eBay, but I am not sure. It's for a skoda octavia 1.8 20v 1999 automatic estate.
  5. Is it possible to use one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261621096661?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT To bypass an skoda octavia 1.8 mk1 immobilizer? I know it should be fixed but I need the car urgently and can't get it fixed till next month or so... Not a thief...
  6. I scanned it and it came up with code 17978 My battery has just died aswell... it should've had a full charge as was driving it around all day! Could it just be the case of a bad battery or something else? Any idea why the immobilizer is kicking in? I have replaced fuses already and took F15 out again but still no joy?
  7. That's very common and a pain to get the other half of the handle off. You just have to keep "wriggling" it and if possible place 2x flat head screw drivers between both of them to part them...
  8. After getting new window regulators and door looms to fix the central locking, I don't fancy having no door membranes... Any idea where I can get them from or should I just use a bin bag and gaffer tape it in place?
  9. Smashed it to pieces, managed to get half the lock out and after cutting myself in a million places, I finally managed to find this little tab that opened the door... Replaced the lock done all the screws up and put the door back together... It happened again, I can't open it again and it's going to drive me insane. When I pull the handle from either inside or outside I hear a click but the door doesn't open at all. Any idea? Check this video: The wires are connected fine
  10. The lock on the door was deadlocked and I couldn't put a 12v wire to it so decided to get a hammer and screwdriver and continue to smash it to pieces... Well that went belly up and I can't smash it anymore... and someone might call the police with me shouting and swearing at it. Any ideas? Garage job?
  11. Thanks Gizmo68 for your help Took the glovebox out and found out that the connector pins for the airbag was all bent, I *carefully* bent them back together and connected the wire back on. The light is now off From the photo below it's still not sitting correctly. I guess a new airbag is in order? It's done the job for now...
  12. airbag light just came on and I have my MOT tomorrow... all I have is some crappy ebay reader and that won't clear it obviously. I don't believe it
  13. So I guess my rear drivers door is deadlocked - it makes the sound of opening but doesn't actually open or move when I do either handle on both sides of the door. How can I put 12v to it when I can't get the door trim off? Any idea? I hope to god I don't need to take the seat out... Skoda Octavia 1.8 20v estate automatic 1999 Also... how can you prevent this from happening again?
