  1. i have bought some new bulbs so might start by taking just my main beam bulbs out and just put some standard ones in and see how i get on, even if it does look a bit weird! haha
  2. thats expensive! :/ Nope nothing, no faults with the radio, windows, locking mechanisms, anything. only thing it does is reset the clock after its had one of its dos and puts all the warning lights on! thats why im a bit confused and think its just the wiring thats the problem instead. (i hope)
  3. i have a mk1 fabia vrs , 55 plate. ive had an aftermarket hid kit fitted in my car for over a year now. about a month after putting them in ii noticed that sometimes when i put my main beam nights on, the two displays at the bottom of the dash where your mileage is would go out, then if i messed around switching them on and off a few times it would come back on. then about a couple of months after, again once i switched my main beam lights on, every single warning light came up on dash, the handbrake light and oil light were flashing, power steering light etc, and my speedo and rev counter didnt work but as soon as you turned the engine off and on again it cured it. again a couple of months after, only when switching my main beam lights on, it did the same, this time the power steering light remained on and i lost power steering for about an hour, then after that it was fine again. however the other day, i was driving back at night,. again i switched my main beam lights on, all the warning lights came on, but this time i lost power steering but also the car just completely lost power, id put my foot on the accelerator and it would do nothing so gradually just came to a stop at the side of the road, but again all i ahd to do was turn the engine off and on again and it was fine. ive only had the vehicle read for fault codes once after it had done it and for every single warning that had come up for brakes, steering etc all had the same fault code, 'no communication to cluster'. havent had it read again recently, but i am considering it to see if it comes up with something. so could this be down to my lights, a bad earth or something more serious like the bcm?
  4. no extra wiring needed as long as they come with the ballasts . as regards to being an mot failure, its not. the mot requirements are that if it does have adjusting headlights and washers that they work, not that it has to have them. However in the laws eyes they are illegal unless you have some different lenses put in. i have got pulled up once with mine before and was fined £60, so its up to you whether you want to risk it or not
  5. no he didn't, ill have to give it a check but like you say it is a pain to get to! haha
  6. rear brakes are more or less brand new and car is used every day so I cant see it them sticking on or anything
  7. 2006 fabia vrs. cars recently developed an annoying intermittent fault, only does it when on 3/4 to full lock and mainly just in reverse ( and more when cold) its makes this awful groaning noise but cant tell if its coming from like the steering pump/rack or suspension. friend of mine thats a mechanic took it out today but couldnt get it to fault (typical) any one else had any problems like this?
  8. Okay so I've been having issues starring the car on and off since winter. Because of the cold weather, I put it down to the battery however when I had the battery tested, it was all okay. Anyway didnt do anything about it, didn't think much more of it until a few months ago when I went to the fuel station, it wouldn't start at all and had to jump it. At this point again I was thinking it was the battery or starter motor. I had the battery tested again, and it was low so had it replaced. For a few days it was fine, started first turn of the key and sounded normal for a change. However today, it took a few turns of the key to get it started. Then when I went out in it, I did the same sort of length journey that I do everyday, I got parked.up. Then about 10 minutes later I came to start it and it took about 6 turns of the key and it sounded terrible. Also the battery light sort of kept coming on and also the power steering light came on. I turned the engine off and back on again hoping the light would go out, but to my horror, it took ages to start, the light stayed on and the worst part... My power steering had completely gone. I tried turning the engine off and on again for about half an hour and no luck. Then just randomly. It started fine, and my steering came back on.then a few hours later, started first turn and everythings fine again!!! So now im thinking alternator?? I I plug it in to diagnostics will it tell me what it is or is it just a case of elimination? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks
  9. I do like them, id like something a bit different though
  10. just tried looking on there and the majority of the images don't work :/ thanks anyway!
  11. possibly, I think id like some new ones though what mm spacers would you recommend?
  12. okay so my fabia vrs is on standard alloys at the moment and im looking at getting some new ones. however theres so many to choose from and im a bit stuck? haha I don't just want the new ones because they look better , I want them to sit better on the car. so im trying to decide sticking to the same size as what ive got on at the minute which are 16", or going for some 17" , possibly et25/29 and getting the tyres (2054017) stretched? what alloys have you got on yours? :D
