  1. My service isn't due until October so I was going to wait until then, but the brakes are becoming increasingly poor, so I may have to just take them in for an inspection. Hoping its just the pads that need changing. I will also be querying the suspension....I hit a pot hole the other week and since then it feels like I'm driving on rims! Ive checked the tyre pressures. God knows
  2. I bought my 60 plate vrs from a skoda dealer in March. It had the Gigaro wheels, black with the chrome rim round them. Upon inspecting the car prior to buying I noticed there was some slight curbing on one of the wheels and the dealer agreed to get the wheels refurbished by their authorised wheel and paint specialist. When I came to collect the car a week later I noticed that all of the wheels had been painted black around the chrome rim....presumably either the dealer sales man or the wheel specialist thought that they were supposed to be black all over the wheel including the chrome rim. I didn't say anything at the time as it didn't particularly bother me. However now the paint around the rim is coming off, and the chrome is showning through, looking as though I have curbed the wheel!! :/ Admittedly I have curbed 2 of the wheels which I need to have refurbished at a cost to myself, however I feel like I should be going back to the dealer getting them to remove the paint or repaint over the chrome at their cost, at least on the two wheels that I have not damaged but the paint is simply coming off the rim. Any thoughts???
  3. Does anyone know how much new brake pads are at a service. I think the discs are fine but Im sure I need some new pads at least on the front. Any ideas??
  4. Hi Guys, When I lift off the accelerator after light acceleration, there is a mechanical noise a little like a loose chain on a bike but obviously a lot louder....any ideas? I thought it may be the DSG. I have had the DSG recall completed, however since then the gearbox does seem an awful lot jerkier. It's under warranty so don't know whether to wait for its service in October, or just get it in? Thanks, George
  5. I will check, however it didn't have anew engine fitted, just a new ECU.
  6. 2010 (60 plate) VRS 40,000 miles - no previous warranty work from previous 1 owner. I have had the following experience: ECU replaced, faulty ECU was sent by Skoda UK initially which was then replaced again with another ECU. This was down to the ECU not earthing properly and continued warning lights. Doesn't appear to have poor oil consumption but haven't driven it long enough, only owned it since March 2014 and it's spent 6 weeks in the dealer with this issue and a cracked turbo pipe among a parking sensor fault and DSG oil change recall. Due to time spent in garage so close to purchase managed to haggle an extra 1 years approved used warranty, basically extending it to 2 years, and also a free service in October.
  7. goneoffSKi, all is good! The dashboard is checked every second while driving and nothing. No light and the engine sounds a lot smoother. Done about 150 miles so far and loving it. Finally able to enjoy the car! I swapped my trinket tray with a fellow user's armrest as per another forum post, and managed to fit that in about 20 minutes last night. Looks the business. Just wondering what else I can do to it now!
  8. Finally!!! I HAVE THE CAR BACK! ECU replaced Turbo Pipe replaced G35 (I think) sensor replaced DSG service recall carried out Parking sensor replaced Rear Badge replaced After 4 weeks (on this last trip) and an additional 2 weeks and 2 days (on other trips) in the dealer the car is fixed (fingers crossed). Forgot how much of a dream it is to drive! The dealer offered an additional 1 year approved used warranty, basically extending it to 2 years up until March 2016, as well as a free service in October. Thanks for everyones help on this topic and I hope no one else has quite the same nightmare experience!

UPDATE and thanks goneoffSKi, Im trying not to mix up between the dealer and SUK and completely agree with you regarding who is liable to and entitled to do things...However it is awfully hard as the customer when they keep pointing the finger of blame and liability with one another. Not sure if this is how it really panned out but this is what I was told today after MUCH ringing between the two. SUK have given Gordon Lamb's general manager the authority to give me a good will gesture sum of money for all the hassle I have experienced since buying the car. They will not discuss with me the amount of money in question until the car is back on the road but have agreed it will be a discussion where I can have a say in what I believe Im entitled to if I do not agree with the offered amount. So now the wait goes on, 8-10 days now apparently waiting for the ECU, then once that has arrived I await the discussion. Thanks everyone for your useful input, suggestions and help. Will keep posting updates until the car is back with me and I have 'given' good will gesture.
  10. Im pretty sick of communicating over the phone with both SUK and Gordon Lamb. I would also like to see my car after all these weeks! So I think Im going armed to Lamb's tomorrow, will ring them first to arrange a meeting and then if I get nothing or no progress is made at the meeting, Il just go further up the road to chesterfield to speak to them at their HQ. I was asked what the ultimate outcome I wanted was...and it got me thinking. 1. I agree with philhoward's post above but I do love the car and even with a refund could end up with another duff with more problems or have to shell out more to find the same car with the same spec. SO I don't want to, if I can help it...return the car or get a refund. 2. HOWEVER I can use the threat of returning the car to them, as this would cost them majorly having to resale at much lower cost due to my short ownership ect. 3. I want some compensation for the entire experience, however Im not sure, as lambs suggested, that it should be coming from Skoda UK. Yes they messed up sending a faulty ECU which has resulted in me not having the car another 10 days minimum. Skoda UK have said twice over the phone and on record on my case, that they believe Gordon Lamb should be giving me a good will gesture for money off what I paid for the car. However Lambs have filed a complaint to SUK to compensate me for the ECU (you can probably tell how this is continuing to go round in circles between the two). 4. Although I will be chasing Lamb's for money off and will speak to SUK case manager in the morning regarding this. I was suggested, by a friend, to get an extended warranty for at least all the work that has been carried out, if not the entire car warranty. Obviously I have the 1 year approved used warranty which will end in March 2015, however I feel I should at least try to get an extended warranty... seeing as there has been so much wrong with the car already after 2 months ownership. If people want to moan and tell me, 'what do I expect, they've given you a courtesy car and kept you mobile blah blah blah, I've already heard it from a couple of members before. However both SUK and Lamb's agree this is a joke and the entire situation has become completely ridiculous now! Members with suggestions on a resolution or how to go about any of the above points will be greatly welcomed! Otherwise Il go ahead as planned with calls and a visit tomorrow.
  11. The JOKE goes on! Ecu received from skoda was 'faulty' and the back order means another 10 days of waiting apparently. I have obviously rang Skoda UK and Gordon Lamb HQ. This is beyond a joke now! Its been 3.5 weeks this visit and the 10 days will take it up to 5 weeks! Gordon Lamb say Skoda should compensate for the faulty ECU and therefore me having to wait another 10 days. Ive said I don't care who compensates but the whole thing is a joke and I feel like I am getting no where with any of them. Aparently Skoda UK will get back to me in 48 hours and Gordon Lamb HQ (who all now know about my car and the ridiculous situation) have raised it to the highest authority.
  12. I did originally wonder whether they had ordered or received the wrong ECU for the CTHE as opposed to the CAVE engine (which I presume mine is). Maybe time they pull there finger out altogether. Im still of the opinion I should get some money back off what I paid for the car but Im not sure the dealer agrees. I will ring Skoda UK again I feel as they thought this was a suggested and viable option.
  13. I have rang them regarding spark plugs and dealer has checked them all and said they have not long been changed and are more than ok, so will change them in October at next service. They said the rear badge and parking sensor have been fitted today. (Turbo pipe already fitted last week). ECU has finally arrived but (there's always a but in this story) they are having trouble coding the ECU to the engine so have sent quiery to technical. Should hear back later today and get the ECU sorted. Then it's only a matter of changing the gear box oil as per the service campaign and then changing the settings on the gearbox. Fingers crossed I will get it back this week!!!
  14. 'Aparently' they have been told that the ECU is now on it's way from the factory...but they are unsure of when it will arrive (they said hopefully today or tomorrow but god only knows). Then it's a matter of fitting the ECU, updating the ECU, Changing the DSG oil as per the 'service campaign' and then taking it on a considerable test drive to see if the light of doom pops back on again. It's been three weeks today, so hopefully I will get it back before the forth!
