  1. Yup, they're brilliant VFM. Are you sure? The MkII is still quite a young lens... I'd be surprised if they updated it so soon. I wouldn't mind, I'd be able to justify buying a MkII secondhand as the prices would drop :) Still love my MkI, I've had a MkI non IS and that was superb, razor sharp it was! Replaced it with a MkI IS earlier this year and it vignettes a bit worse wide open but the IS is great.
  2. They set a rule so that if you had more than 50% of your posts in the classifieds you were banned from the classifieds in an effort to drive away traders or make them contribute to the main forums. You can guess what happened! When I joined there used to be at least 3 or 4 pages of current ads but now it struggles to make it above 1. Also seems more expensive but that might just be me. To add to what Amanda has said, the Canon 17-55 F2.8 is a truly excellent lens. If only it fitted full frame cameras too! Also you can pick up a tidy 70-200 F4L non IS for around £350, brilliant lenses, very portable and also sharp. I've had 2 and both have been excellent. I occasionally toy with the idea of buying one again as the F2.8 gets a bit heavy after a while.
  3. https://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/ tends to be quite good, although a recent rule change has made the classifieds a bit of a ghost town.

  5. That looks tidy! I'm thinking of having my grille colour coded, that's helped sway a decision Anyway, quick snap from tonight - it's that time of year again:
  6. Yes I am aware they naturally take longer to warm up but what I was trying to say was when compared to my Fabia VRS Mki it seems to take a lot longer. Yeah, I am. Oil temp rises steadily behind the water as expected. Just takes a long time like you say! Thanks, sounds about normal then! Case closed :P Cheers all.
  7. Hi, Since having my FL VRS I've noticed it takes quite a while to warm up, even for a diesel. 10-15 minutes is not irregular now it's cold in the mornings (and I keep it in a garage overnight) and this is with gentle driving on quick roads - 60mph for about 6/7 minutes before I hit around 5 mins of traffic then up to 70. My Fabia VRS never really took that long, just interested to know what is 'normal'. Cheers, Harry.
  8. Picked up this beastie a couple of weeks ago, took a while to find what I wanted but got there in the end. Terrible service from Evan Halshaw in Peterborough, 0/10 on their behalf. Car is great and previously owned by someone on the forum who kindly sent me all the invoices and details

  10. This has indeed just sold - thanks for the hassle free sale Hope you enjoy the car! Thanks for the facility.
  11. Hi All, the time has finally come to change my car for something a bit newer. I’ve had this for just over 2 years, being owned by my Dad before me. I got the car in April 2014, with my Dad having purchased it in August 2012. 3 former keepers (excluding myself, but including my Dad). The car has a full service history and a folder full of history. There is a stamp missing for the 100’000 mile service - however it was done by The Specialist, Automotive G/Lee Harris as per the two bracketing services. Cambelt was done last service and it is currently due an oil & filter service. I took ownership of the car at 84000 miles so it’s done roughly 20’000 miles per year in my ownership (mostly motorway/dual carriageway), and I can count the amount of problems I’ve had on one hand (most of which boost pipes, who’d have thought). I have replaced the top boost pipe and bottom elbow with Samco items (blue, of course!). When I took over the car I sourced an original Skoda Satnav and had it fitted with the correct facia, and had the wheels refurbished. They still look very good with no curbing. Bodywork is in pretty good condition for a 10 year old car but has a couple of door dings, the worst of which is on the drivers side rear wheelarch. I also managed to scrape the front bumper in a multi-storey car park – see pictures. So to surmise; The good: FSH with a stack of receipts 4 nearly new F1 Eagles all round 11 months of MOT HEATED SEATS (both work, drivers side was replaced at 90k)! Wheels are in good nick Generally bodywork is very good Satnav has Aux lead and Bluetooth (aftermarket) Had cambelt done at 120k 2 keys The Bad: Currently needs an oil and filter change Scrape on the front bumper A couple of door dings If you’re being anal the badges would probably want changing. Seats could do with a good clean Engine management is on, has been on for the duration of my ownership. Think it's the EGR valve but it has been no issue whatsoever. I’m going to have a look at a new car on Monday so if it’s ‘the one’ this will need to be gone by the end of next week really. I’m located just up the road from Stamford, about 20 minutes from Junction 17 of the A1(M) at Peterborough. The mileage will rise and will be closer to 132k after this weekend. If I don't go for the car I'm going to get the oil and filter service done. 12. Thanks for all the replies folks, certainly some food for thought
  13. Thanks for that - I'm definitely after a facelift front so that shouldn't be a problem.
