Clutch squeal at bite point.
vRSrod replied to MasterTom's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
My vrs is doing the exact same noise as you described it. Clutch starting to slip at higher rev too but done 90k miles on it and it started shortly after the car was remapped. I recon the noise might be a sign the clutch is on its way out but I could be wrong. I am looking to replace the clutch anyway and A wv specialist garage quoted £800 for 3 parts replacement. -
Mine is tuned at Amd essex, I can definitely recommend thier costume map. Have you done the tensioner? as that would be my priority, not too sure about catch can as I don't have one. I don't know if it is worth having it, but I'm sure someone will be along here soon who has used it.

Fitting Mk3 (5E) Vrs spoiler to Mk2 (1Z) Vrs
vRSrod replied to nixr2's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I'd be interested to know too. If you know the exact measurements of the spoiler, you can measure it on your car -
Just retrofited the OEM dab GPS antenna to mine, very easy to do. Need to drop the rear roof trim plastic and there is good access. The antenna is secured with a single nut, can't remember size. used a swan spanner it'll give you better access. You'll need to run an extension Fakra cable (blue) to the rear of the unit. Found it easier to run the cable down the passenger side and into the A pillar and behind the glove box. Previously I had a GPS unit place under the dash but the OEM antenna is so much better picking up satellites not to mention it looks original. I haven't tested the DAb capabilities as still waiting for my columbus unit to arrived. The DAb connection on the OEM antenna is Fakra (black) you will also need an extension cable.

ha ha couldn't excatly hear what the other guy was saying over the phone, quoted 230+ vat supply and fitted. First thing to break after having my car re-mapped the other week, im pleasantly surprised it was not the clutch phew... Ju1ian001 can you confirm that the petrol vrs FL have SMF? as im looking to replace the clutch to an uprated sachs kit http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280733959218?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Just waiting to hear from the supplier to confirm it will fit my car.

The garage has looked at the car and told me the spine on the driveshaft was damaged. Am I correct in saying spine are the teeth that hold the CV joint to the drive shaft? Anyway complete driver side shaft is ordered and hopefully it's all it needs to get me back on the road.

thanks for a quick reply Moley, i had the driver side cv joint replaced recently. if it was the diff, would i need to replace the whole gearbox?

Evening all hope someone can help me with whats wrong with my car. As i was setting off, accelerating in first gear, I heard a loud bang then the car would not move in any gear. I stopped on a side road and the car started fine, put it in first but the engine just revs but the car wouldn't move. I can still put the gear stick in any gear including reverese but with no bitting point even lifting the cluth off when the gear is engaged did not stall the engine. the recovery guy recons its the clutch cable but i thought these clutches run on hydrolic system. the Clutch pedal is still in normal position and not depressed to the floor and there's no grinding sound heard when lifting the cltuch when in gears. my inkling was on the dmf but there was no sign of it slipping previouly. A quick search on here brought the driveshaft being at fault but since i have no knowledge of the clutch system in this car i want to have some info to take back to the mechanic so im not taken for a ride, as i have not used the mechanic where the car was dropped off this evening. Oh the car is a vrs tsi engine and apology for the long post.

I Need Help & Advice Please.
vRSrod replied to BLUETFSi's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Glad you have sorted this out. It will certainly give you that peace of mind knowing the tensioner has been replaced. My only observation is, at that milaige i would have thought the tensioner and related parts could have been replace by the previous owner. The original tensioner tends to give way as early as 30k miles and the majority of failed tensioner posted in here tends to be around 50-70k miles. My car also has that metalic rattles on start up as you describe specifically if i hadn't use it for a while. Ill be looking into replacing the tensioner in mine fairly soon. -
mine is a manual vrs 09 plate, grear car to drive very quick.
-
ask about, the chain tensioner, if it had been change. it's a common issues on tsi engine and more common on 09 plate with dsg. quite expensive to remedy if it where to brake whiles owning the car as it would mean a new engine. factor in around £800-1k the cost to replce the tatensioner on this would be my priority.
