  1. Personally Im not sure at all thats why I asked the question but thats what they have been told that its the ignition switch. Very confused myself, the person seems to think that is what is drawing the power and dissipating the battery. It will cost them £200 to change it and get it coded (hence this particular thread, I didnt want to confuse the other issue which Is kind of what we;ve come back to lol) Id hate for them to find out it isnt that after spending that. Also not sure if they really need to get it coded. For my old car I I was given directions to code it (which I understand we might not want to post publicly on the forum for security reasons) so if anyone can PM with that Id be really pleased. Thanks for the input all
  2. How do we work out of something is drawing power? Thank you
  3. My dad says 44 AH and starting power 440A IF that helps anyone (pulling screwy face here)
  4. After our recent investigation we are still not sure about the ignition switch which we have been advised to change. My sister isnt using the key fob to open the car. She uses the key, the fob battery is flat and they cant open it. So if they change the ignition switch does anyone know if it needs to be coded? At the moment she isnt using the fob at all. If she continues to use the key surely she shouldnt need to get it coded or is there something more going on in the background? Hope the question makes sense.
  5. Also I searched for "broken alternator load sensor wire" and combinations of that on here but didnt find anything. Perhaps you could suggest some other term to search for?
  6. Yes it starts useing jump leads and the battery light comes on I believe. And battery has been replaced. Ill mention the possibilites you have suggested. but can anyone comment on the possibility of it being the ignition barrel / switch as they have been told. (to me it sounds a bit strange)? Thanks
  7. Its fine that day then the next day they go to start and the battery is dead ( says 12v) Doesnt turn over, nada. Does this make any sense? Thanks
  8. Hey Guys Just looking into a problem for my little sis. She has a Fabia Comfort Wu51 reg They had some starting problems, they changed the battery,. They put the battery on charge and it was fine temporarily..Problems continued They considered the alternator. They took it to someone (not a proper garage but someone who has some testing tool ??) They were told the alternator is fine but that they need a new ignition barrel /switch. I just wanted to find out if that sounds right.? I think thay have been told the part costs £140 and then the key needs to be re-coded. Thanks for any info
