  1. So... Had my Monte Carlo since February 2014 (1.2TSi 105ps). First thing it needed was some sounds - so managed to get a Columbus unit off eBay for £350 - fitted that myself and ran the sat lead (placing it out of sight behind the tax disc holder; upgraded software to the latest 2014 maps/software; works sweet!! Bass was missing though - so then thought about a sub - but unlike the Alfa before, didn't want to lose the boot space. After much research, went for the InPhase USW12 Twin 6" Subwoofer and had it mounted to the back seat. WOW!! Make my former 12" sub with built in 1000watt amp look like a toy! Had a service done yesterday and decided it was time to get some proper tyres on - as there was a different one on each foot beforehand. Now shod with Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2's - great tyre for the money, A-rated for wet/dry grip and can hardly hear them rolling. Also got the garage when doing the service to paint the rear drums black - as that rusty grey colour was an eyesore; they came up fantastic. Dropped in some NightBreaker Plus lights - and already changed the DRL's to LED's - so it's now looking the biz. Wanted to get the car detailed as a last resort - but my cousin kept telling me, "forget the detail, just map it!" NOW... Couldn't decide whether to go for an APR, Revo or Shark (as mentioned on this forum). Again, after much research, it seemed like Revo Technik was the future - and the way to go for VAG engines - more aggressive power delivery. Wanted it done today too - as I'm a bit impatient like that! :p I'm in London but found a great place called Auto Specialists, Grays, Essex on the Revo website (off A13 so a good stretch to test it on when completed!) - and the guy there (Ronny) sorted things out for me. Just over an hour later, all I have to say is REVO ALL THE WAY BABY!! Before, the car was quick - But now, it's SICK!! Car is now at 144bhp!! 4th gear is the new 2nd! Just pulls like a flippin' freight train. Reaching 70mph in 2nd gear - the maxidot gear assist was just advising me to go straight to 5th! Amazing!! Just can't believe the absolutely PROFOUND effect this remap has had on what was already a brilliant car, imo. Spent the next 2 hours going up and down A roads, resigning myself to the fact that this tank of fuel was gonna be 'for demonstration purposes' only! Picked up my cousin and let him drive... First, was the smile, then RAAH!! WAAH!!?? And some laughing, followed by, "I told you!!! I told you!!!" "You charged up the whip for real!" He even started to drop some chune from Alladin! A whole new world a dazzling place I never knew But when I'm in this gear (2nd) it's crystal clear that now I'm in a whole new world with you! I couldn't stop creasing up! So, the moral of the story is this; for anyone out there with a Monte 1.2TSI... CHARGE THAT BAD BOY UP NOW - MAP IT!!
  2. 2011 Monte Carlo Candy White (n Black) 1.2TSi 105bhp variant Armrest, Climatronic, Maxidot Fitted some extras - wanna talk about that later!
  3. I'm in London, looking for a remap to my 1.2TSI Monte also. Not heard of Shark outside of this forum - but two names are constantly cropping up when I do my searches; Revo and APR. Has anyone had either of these remaps on their Monte (105bhp) that can comment on it? £478.00 (£399 + VAT), seems pretty pricey to me and makes me frown. But will the remap put a smile on my face again!!?? (And will I need to upgrade other parts of the vehicle to handle it?)
  4. That's interesting; because I definitely had the major distortion/very poor sound quality that you described earlier - from my iPod connected to the mdi port. Radio or CD player was absolutely fine - but the iPod was terrible. But adjusting the AUX sensitivity solved the issue. Which makes sense, as AUX would be 'anything' externally plugged into the unit - be it via the MDI port or the 3.5' headphone jack.
  5. Cheers KBPhoto, Will have a search for the info - and someone with VCDS locally. Was gonna ask my local Skoda dealer - as the guys there are pretty awesome about things like this. I even told them I was getting a init from eBay and they were cool with it, telling me to pop in if there were any issues with it! So they may be able/willing to sort me out?
  6. Loving the info on this forum!! Cheers jeehi for your info. Purchased my Columbus from a guy on eBay last Friday. Was looking at all the posts from Lithuania etc for Model K and L Columbus's but went for this 'E' Model from a UK seller. (Guy turned out to be Eastern European anyway!! (Probably Lithuanian! ). Like you, I had the following; Hardware Model: 3T0 035 680 E HW Version: HW61 SW Version: 3984 Map Version HDD: 8048 TV Free (Video In Motion) (No secret Menu) But now after following the link you posted to the firmware, I now have; Hardware Model: 3T0 035 680 K HW Version: HW61 SW Version: 5269 Map Version HDD: 8048 TV Free (Video In Motion) (Secret Menu - Activated!). Very happy - as it would appear all those models advertised on eBay as 'Latest 'K' version' could just be older models - like ours - with updated firmware!?? So in one fell swoop, I've saved myself a couple hundred quid - as the unit only cost me £350.00. Not bad eh? Now if I could just get the MFD to display the navigation info - that would be the icing on the cake - although it's not a necessity as the screen is so big n bright! ps. Does yours now display Climatronic info? Mine doesn't. Again, another 'bonus' if that could work also.
  7. Thanks jeehi! I did go to this site before but must have been looking at it with my eyes closed! Cheers!
  8. Sorted KBPhoto, It was the Aux Sensitivity settings in the menu - was set to high. As soon as I lowered it to 'medium' problem solved! Cheers.
  9. Nice! Can you tell me where you got the firmware from please? (I know Google is my friend but he's not being so cooperative at the mo!) I can only find an upgrade to 4120. Thanks.
  10. Hi iPhonik4, I had exactly the same issue when I fitted a newly acquired Columbus to my Fabia a few days ago! I got some (very bad) advice to fiddle with the pins on the cambus connection - before going through the menu and figuring out the Aux Sensitivity issue myself! I set mine to 'medium' and the issue was resolved. I also tried the 'low' setting but the bass was lacking when on that - so settled for the medium setting. One interesting point mentioned in this thread though is about the volume level of the source - which I didn't actually check. I have an old 60GB iPod connected via the mdi port, so that will just sit under the glove box forever! But I never checked the volume and EQ this was set to before plugging it in - so thanks for that!
  11. I'm in the same position as this. I have just installed an RNS 510 (3T0035680E; HW61; SW3984; Map Version 8048) and I was wondering if there's an upgrade available - as the sound through MDI is terrible! Major distortion!! Thanks
  12. Hello all, Just introducing myself; new to this forum but already found some invaluable info so registered. Purchased a 2011 Fabia Monte Carlo 1.2TSI (105bhp version) - and just can't believe what a 1.2 can do nowadays! (Came from an Alfa 147 1.6 - this runs rings around the Alfa!). My cousin said to 'chip it straight away' so will be heading to that section in a mo. But just wanted to be polite and say hello first! Cheers!
