  1. I often make use of this socket, but find that the volume on the headset has to be up very high and the volume on the ipod/phone/whatever not too high to avoid it sounding nasty. That's fine until a travel announcement cuts in and it sound like something has smashed into the side of the car because it takes a fraction of a second for the volume to turn itself down to the "announcement" level. Apart from disabling the announcements and risking getting caught in a jam has anyone got a good idea how to get around this?
  2. It might not be infallible but it has saved me a lot of hassle. I set out for a short trip to a shop and it bonged after 1/4 mile, sure enough tyre was down a bit but not enough to see or feel. Checked again at home and it had gone down again, turned out to be a screw through the tread. Got tyre fixed. Very glad of the warning because I had an early start and long drive the next morning and would have been most unhappy to find flat tyre then.
  3. Ah. That (hopefully) explains the smell of overheating and the fan staying on the other afternoon when I got home, I couldn't see any reason for it, oil and water temperatures weren't up and it had only been a short, slow run.
  4. I had this a few months ago, fortunately just before the car came out of warranty. Turned out to just be a loose connector in the sensor wiring, dealer reckoned maybe the bumper had been removed some time in the past and the connector hadn't quite been pushed back together properly.
  5. Does make me wonder if there's a general issue with leaky water pumps, but at least they have the grace to fail before the warranty runs out. In my case it was a close run thing though.
  6. I had the same a couple of months ago, turned out to be a leak in the water pump too
  7. 10 miles in stop-start London traffic? What you want is a bicycle not a car! Save the driving for those longer weekend journeys.
  8. With an auto box I'm not convinced that different driving styles can do much harm, short of a "style" that involves hitting other solid objects.
  9. I had that the other day and was on the verge of getting seriously worried that I'd bent the key or something before I realised that it was just in neutral with the handbrake on. Eventually came to the conclusion that you need to put it in park before switching off the ignition. I assume it doesn't sense that it is in park unless the ignition is on, hence turning it on and off again will allow it to notice and let you get the key out.
  10. It's a pain having a load of settings specific to each key. Is there a setting to make settings apply to all keys?
  11. Hi, I have two keys. When I press and hold the lock button on one the mirrors fold in. When I do the same on the other key they don't, although that key locks and unlocks the car just fine. Is there some magic incantation of button presses required to activate the feature that is specific to a key? Thanks, - P
  12. You say you recently bought it. Have you checked all over for a CD changer? Maybe under one of the seats?
  13. Hi, On my previous car the roof rails had some little arrows showing where to place roof bars for a roof box. On my Superb Estate I can't see anything similar. Are there any guidelines as to the best place to fix the rails/box? - P
  14. So, the dealer ordered the new lock barrel, but then decided rather than make a mess by drilling out the old one he'd give it to their tame locksmith to sort out. The locksmith managed to create a new set of keys for the old lock instead - how do they do that? Anyway, neither dealer or locksmith has charged me for any of this, result!
