  1. Hi guys I got a new front wiper motor as mine stops every now and again went to fit it in the lovely -3 c we currently have to find it has a different electrical connector. The old motor is two sided rectangle with a semi circle at the ends and the new motor connection is rectangular. There are four wires in the connection from the car yet only two on the new motor. It reckons to be the same part number but I stuck the old one on for the time being. Are there any converters from old to new or do I have to make up a new connector to fit and which wires go where please First picture is original motor connector the second is the new motor
  2. Have you still got the rear wiper motor ? If so how much delivered to HX4
  3. Hi Guys, I have finally got round to ordering a couple of new transponders for my 2002 Mk1 Octavia. I broke one trying to get it out of the key and don't like the idea of not having a backup. Is there anyone near Halifax West Yorkshire who could program them to my car please. Also What is a fair charge for this service. Cheers
  4. So back to garage this morning on the ramp, no sign of any pipes off... There was a frayed wire attached to the solenoid closest to the EGR valve that attaches to the inlet manifold, and three blown fuses. The reason I couldn't get my VCDS working was F12 mini Blade that runs the data port had blown, and F29 & F43 both engine management circuits had blown. Fixed the wire changed the fuses and back to normal everything running, bizarre or what. I still can't understand why it made the car sound like a pipe had blown off, just glad it's working. Thanks to everyone for the tips and advice I've learnt a fair bit this time from you all. Cheers
  5. It is going back in the morning I had another look but everything looks in place, I hope you're right and I jus can't see the wood for the trees.
  6. The boost pipes seem fine, the more I listen the more I can hear a hiss from around the solenoid area but can't feel any holes or air escaping. The Engine sounds louder than normal and more very old diesel rather than the sweet purring it normally makes. I will trace the boost pipes again for piece of mind
  7. It was more like a pop than a hiss. By boost do you mean the vacuum pipes on the engine bulkhead. I think I've just found one with a hole in it coming from the same solenoid that goes to the top of the egr valve so going to replace that
  8. I took the egr valve off and it was caked like a mo**erf*cker... a good 2.5cm. only prob was i broke the plastic attachment to the vacumm valve. so new one from scrappers tomorrow. I think the inlet manifold will have to come off as i scrapped loads out but couldnt get to the bolts without breaking my knuckles. Any tips really welcome
  9. Hi Guys I have a 2003 1.9tdi 110bhp ASV engine. I had my cambelt and waterpump changed at the local garage on Thursday, Friday only did 10 miles, going down the M60 through the 50mph zone yesterday all seemed fine, turned onto M61 turned off cruise control and put my foot down. There sounded like a pipe went pop and then a loss of power and EML came on. I pulled over had a brief look couldnt see anything. Drove on it was hard to hill start but bar that it sounded fine unless under accleration when it sounded and felt like a non turbo old tranist van. It would eventually get to 60mph and was losing approx 5mpg compared to normal. When i got to my destination I had the engine cover off and the only thing i could see was a very worn pipe going to egr valve. I got home fine very slow and it doesnt pull up hills, goes to put my vcds on and it kept coming up with this message in the picture even though it worked fine last time i used it in October last year with the same aftermarket radio in it. So I'm stuck. The person closest to me with VCDS in Huddersfield hasnt been online in 8 months but I think i could get 10-15 miles from home (Halifax West Yorkshire). I going to pick up some diesel return pipe and replace the worn pipe to egr valve and get some carb cleaner and take off the egr valve and give it a clean. The last resort is taking it to a garage as I'm totally skint so any help would be greatly appreicated, and if anyone has a working vcds so i can read the codes that would be excellent. Cheers Alastair
  10. Hi Guys, I'm due to change my cambelt, waterpump and lower control arms, I've just been looking around and there are a whole range of kits. Does anyone have any recommendations as to which kits and preferred suppliers. My car is a 2002 1.9 Tdi estate ASV engine. I'm looking for mid to upper range qualitity rather than cheap cr*p. Cheers
  11. Thanks for all that chaps. It does have fs lll on the caliper so they are the 280mm. I haven't phoned tps yet but to put brembo all round discs and pad is £85. Euro gives you a choice of 5 manufacturer so next question who is best? Pagid, bosch, eicher, brembo or Ate? Or am I better sticking with the stock tps supply? I'd love to hear your opinions Cheers
  12. Hi All, So Ive just gone onto eurocarparts to price up new discs & pads and there appears to be three different size discs for the front. My car is a Mk1 1.9tdi elegance estate and i entered my reg in the box and the different discs specs are: Bore Ø [mm]15,6 Brake Disc Thickness [mm]22,0 Brake Disc TypeVented Centering Diameter [mm]65 Diameter [mm]256 Height [mm]36,9 Hole Arrangement / Number05/07 Inner Diameter [mm]133,5 Minimum Thickness [mm]19 Number of Holes5 Pitch Circle Ø [mm]100 Weight [kg]4,64 Fitting Position Front Fitted Quantity 2 PR Number 1LQ or Bore Ø [mm]15,6 Brake Disc Thickness [mm]22 Brake Disc TypeVented Centering Diameter [mm]65 Diameter [mm]280 Height [mm]36,5 Hole Arrangement / Number05/06 Inner Diameter [mm]133,5 Minimum Thickness [mm]19 Number of Holes5 Pitch Circle Ø [mm]100 Weight [kg]6 Fitting Position Front Fitted Quantity 2 PR Number 1LS,1ZM or Bore Ø [mm]15,6 Brake Disc Thickness [mm]25,0 Brake Disc TypeVented Centering Diameter [mm]65 Diameter [mm]288 Height [mm]34,4 Hole Arrangement / Number05/10 Inner Diameter [mm]136 Minimum Thickness [mm]22 Number of Holes5 Pitch Circle Ø [mm]100 Weight [kg]7,2 Fitting Position Front Fitted Quantity 2 PR Number 1LE So my question is could I fit the bigger disc without having to change anything else if I currently have the smaller ones fitted? Do I take it I have to take a front wheel off and measure the current disc to find out which are fitted or is there a simpler way of finding out? Cheers Al
  13. Had a final look around before forking out for a new alternator and found the wire from the alternator to the top of the battery has burnt away its connector and melted the platic in the box. So off to scrapyard for new cable and terminal box that sits on top of the battery. I just hope its this and that it's not goosed the alternator as well. Thanks again for the help guys
  14. Try your local TPS when they ask for a account number give them 225909 and tell them your from Briskoda club. They told me to use their quantum oil i think it's 10/40w but its a sliver /purple bootle and for the last 20,000 it has run great. You might need to remind TPS that you get trade prices, last service for oil, air, diesel & oil filter they originally wanted £90+vat, After discount that came down to £52 inc Vat
  15. Thanks for the rplies, I checked all the wiring this morning and put the multimeter on the alternator it was givien 0.3v so seems like new alternator, so back to my second question which alternator to go for, I can get a 90amp from eurocarparts for just under £100, or a bosch for £150 after deposit refunded. It also lists 110amp and 140 amp versions, do i need that much power?
