  1. Thanks for the advice. I will give it ago but still a bit nervous about it not starting. At least I know it can be done without vcds and so far no posts from any members who have had a problem changing the filter themselves.
  2. I recently changed a clutch and flywheel replaced on a 2010 Octavia 1.6 TDI CR. Dealer wanted £1100. Mr.clutch wanted £700. In the end I found a trustworthy garage who did the job for £470. It pays to shop around.
  3. Thanks Cward, Have you done one yourself. If so was it the same procedure as the CR engine. If I can get it done without the need to bleed the system then this would be good. Thanks
  4. Thanks Flapperjack, Can you explain the procedure of how to bleed the system once the filter has been replaced. I have never seen it done before, sorry to be a nuisance.
  5. Hi Can anyone offer advice on changing a fuel filter on a Octavia 1.6 CR Tdi. Just about to carry out a diy service and was hoping to change fuel filter but not changed one before. Thank you
  6. Thank you for your reply. I will give it ago this weekend. Can I ask what brand of filter you used. I was going to use a Mann filter as they seem a decent brand. Thanks again
  7. Can anyone offer advice on changing a fuel filter on the Octavia 1.6 TDI CR 2010. I am about to carry out a service and do not want to pay the £240 price tag from the main dealer. The car has done 95k and has been on a variouble service plan with previous owner. Can not find details of when the fuel filter was last changed so want to change it so I know it's been done. Only thing that worries me is the advice I have read on the internet is that the filter should be primed using the VCRS system as the pump will not prime the filter when the ignition is switched on. I have read articles from owners who have primed the filter themselves by filling up the filter housing with fuel before turning on the ignition. Has anyone carried out a filter change recently and what was their experience. Has anyone found a problem restarting the car. Advice please.
  8. Hi I am new to the forum, wondering if anyone can help. I have a Octavia Mk 2 on a 2010 plate. I cannot tune into any channels on the cars radio using AM. FM is better. I have checked the radio setup by holding the setup button for a few seconds. The display says Ant 1 on Ant 2 on although Ant 1 switches off now and again. Even with both Ant 1&2 on AM still useless. I have read that you may be able to fit an amplifier to the rear of the radio. I have also read that the amplifier is in the base of the aerial. Not sure what to do, any advice welcome.
  9. Thanks for your replies. I spoke to a Skoda main dealer today who said the belt should be changed every 4 years or 140k which ever comes first. Anyone else been told this. As a side issue what are the 1.6 tdi Cr cars like. Anything to look out for.
  10. Hi I am new to he forum. Have read some interesting threads about Timing Belt change intervals and one thing keeps reappearing, everyone seems to have something different to say. I am about to buy a Octavia 1.6 TDI CR registered in 2010 (60) plate. The car has done 80k. It was recently serviced by a Skoda main dealer, but it appears that the cam belt was not changed when it was serviced.. Q Is this correct. I thought they recommend they are to be changed every 4 years regardless of mileage. Q Should I get the non Skoda dealer who is selling me the car to get the cam belt changed before I buy the car. The car is priced at £6700 Any advice welcome please before I buy.
