Hi, I have a 2006 Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDi Elegance. Last year the handbrake light and warning sound came on following all the really heavy rain we had. Took it to my local garage who changed the handbrake switch and brake fluid sensor. Light came on intermittently so they did a diagnostic. Was told that I would need to take it to a Skoda dealership for diagnostic, which I did. When I went to collect my car they said they couldn't get the warning light to come on so couldn't get a code - strange as the light was going mad as I drove it to the garage - would this not be stored in the memory? The garage said their mechanic had checked my car for nearly 2 hours and could not find an issue. I was charged nearly £200 for the pleasure. Hence I am reluctant to take it back. The fault mysteriously disappeared for just over 12 months. Now, in the really hot weather the brake warning light comes on. But if I put the air con on for a couple of minutes it seems to clear it or make it come on less. When the weather is cool - ie below 20 degrees, the light does not come on at all. Does anyone have any ideas?
