  1. Hello, Hopefully someone on here can help me to diagnose what is wrong with my car as the Skoda main dealer couldn't find anything or ant fault codes and it's sending me insane with the beeping!! :S It started about 2 weeks ago during the first cold snap of weather and has slowly got worse. Whenever I first start the car in the morning and almost every time I go round a right hand corner I get beeps coming from the display and the message: STOP BRAKE FAULT SERVICE MANUAL Which then dissapears after about 10 seconds (maybe water got into something electrical??!!??) The car is a 55 Reg Superb 1.9TDI Elegance Any Ideas??? Pleeeeeeease..... :S
  2. Hi again, I know I started this post ages ago then kinda dissapeared so I thought I'd let you know what I did to finally solve my situation. To start off with I totally gave up with the connection that linked in with the cd changer with head unit control as it was turning into too much of a ball ache! So then decided to settle on just having a 3.5mm jack plug connected through the AUX connection. To do this I bought the following: A Dietz 1213 cable (for about £22) from SatNav Sysyems that looked like this: (although apparently they now no-longer do Dietz stuff) I then got the rest of the cables/connectors from my local Maplin to convert from the twin phono to a single 3.5mm jack plug and then connected this to a 3.5mm jack plug extension cable so it would be long enough to reach my arm rest compartment. I then did the fun job of taking out my glovebox, rear seat central heater outlets and inner armrest compartment to be able to eventually feed the cable up to the inside of the armrest. I then drilled a little hole in the inner armrest compartment to feed the 3.5mm jack cable through, fed it through and put everything back together again. Now when I select AUX as the audio source (once set to just "Audio" not "Audio & Video" in the AUX settings) and press play on my ipod I finally get my crystal clear ipod music! (and I still get my traffic info and/or satnav working simultaniously too!) OK you don't get to charge it or control the ipod from the DX head unit like some of the other systems may do (if they actually work) but it now does all I need it to do for much less money, so I'm now finally happy with it! Regards GBDave
  3. My headlights are too low also but I have the Xenon auto height adjusting type without the adjustment from inside the car. Can I adjust mine in the same way??
  4. P.S. Check out this thread too: http://briskoda.net/superb/dension-icelink-400-superb-dx/77896/ Looks like we're fighting a loosing battle :(
  5. Hi Sam, Bad news I'm afraid! I bought the Xcarlink kit for £75 (including postage) as it looked like it should work! Tried fitting it and it didn't! :(. It played the Ipod OK but even though I'd plugged the cd changer back into the new adaptor it still didn't see the cd changer. :( i.e. When I disconnected the Ipod from the flylead to use the cd changer instead (as this is how it should opperate) the headunit would kinda jam saying it is selecting cd3 and the timer would go but you'd only get silence. I've just sent the unit back to get my refund but they did say that they would look into it as they believed it should have worked!?! So for the time being I'd say don't buy a Xcarlink Ipod adaptor for a Skoda DX SatNav Headunit as from my personal experience "It Don't Work!" :thumbdwn: So yeah I'm also going nuts still without my Ipod of tunes so please someone if they've sussed it with a DX Satnav headunit then please share the knowledge!!
  6. I've recently bought a 55 reg elegance for £7300 with 81k on the clock and still think I've got a bargain!! I was waiting for ages to find a elegance with a cream interior for 7k ish and was expecting to get a 2003 or 2004 car but the 55 reg one turned up so I bought that!! Depends on what you want really. I was picky! The highish milage didn't really bother me too much as I've had Golf and Passat TDi's before with highish mileage and the engine has never been a problem. Yes it may well devalue but it does have the toys. And if you know the car then that sounds even better!!
  7. Right......... This is how far I've got now on the iPod mission. Skoda DX Navi unit in dash: Insert removal keys: And out it pops: Sticker on top tells you which connector does what: Hence from this above and down shot you can see the Blue part of the triple connector is for the cd changer Hence I now think I need to buy one of these: Skoda iPod Interface 8 pin ISO Connector*::*SKODA*::*XCarLink as it comes with an input and output to replace and then reconnect the blue part of the triple connector: I'll let you know when I've bought one and tried it OK (Might be next month now though as I'm still mega skint from buying the car!!)
  8. Got the keys from eBay in the post today, Woo Hoo!! (bought from your link from HONG KONG!! - cheers dude ) Will pull the unit out over the weekend and have a look at the back now. I'll try and take some photo's an post em up incase it helps anyone else too ok
  9. I pretty much think the cd changer port is probably gonna be the only way to connect it too now. The reason I was looking at the xCarLink one is that it looks like it plugs into the cd changer port to power/control the iPod but also has an input connector to replug the cd changer into (i think) this: (if it's the right connector??) The way I read the website was that in the little control box it senses if your Ipod is plugged in and if so will read from that but if not will read from the cd changer??? Does that sound possible?? P.S. Yes Baker21 I think I need to get hold of a removal tool. If you know what they look like any chance could you point me at a suitable one on Ebay please so I can check it out. Thanx
  10. Ok thanks Dude But I've since been browsing around the forum and it looks like you can't easily connect to it with an Ipod. Best option I believe I've found so far seems to be this iPod CD changer adapter, VW iPod, Music Link, xCarLink which looks promising as it seems you retain the changer. But I dunno what the back of my unit looks like to tell if I have a "2 x 6 pin connector" or an "8 pin ISO connector". (or could one be for the cd changer socket and the other for the AUX socket???) Are the units quite easy to get round the back of or to get out to look??
  11. Just finally picked up a 55 Superb Elegance 130tdi yesterday after selling my 03 Octy VRS estate about a month ago!! (There aint to many about is there!!) I'm now trying to get my head around the settings on the sat nav head unit. Through the menu settings there seems to be an AUX setting which is set to OFF. Does this mean that there is a connection on the back of the unit that I could plug into with a suitable lead to listen to my Ipod?? I know you can get a lead to replace your CD changer connection but I'd like to retain that if I can? Anyone know please??
  12. Oh OK cheers chris_1d Does yours have the splitfold rear seat tho as I thought the superbs didn't have this but I've seen it on some late ones? Might have to consider non Xenons :(
  13. Hi Guys, Been considering changing my VRS Octy estate for a superb 130 tdi for a while now as I want some better MPG for the miles I do (plus I love the slammed look on 19s ). Could someone let me know what the spec differances between the Comfort and the Elegance's are please as I've been searching the web to no avail  I know about the leather and wood internal bits on the elegance's and the chrome external trim but what else is the differance?? I'm pretty sure I want the parking sensors and climate and Xenons so does this come on the Comforts too? And when did the split fold rear seat come in? Not to bothered about wheels as I'll hopefully get a set of 19s just like on a mates modded A8 i.e. I think I would like an elegance with ivory internal trim but might settle for a comfort with cloth ivory if necessary as I can only really afford 7k max :( Sorry for the millions of questions? Any help is appreciated Regards Dave
