  1. Can someone clear up this office argument. Is the Octy vRS built on the same VAG platform as the Cupra S Thanks
  2. Balamory My 5 year old wants to go and see Josy Jump I wouldnt mind it either!) Would you let PC Plum explain the "Birds and Bees" to your kids? dont think so! So can anyone tell me where Balormory is? You get a lot of important info at Briskoda!!
  3. sorry for my inept lack of car knowledge, but what is dots all about? Is it brake fluid? and how would that help when it's the pad/disc that causes the fade?
  4. Can anyone offer some advice to a novice? To put it simply- is brakefade when the brakes get steadilly less reponsive following heavy breaking? On my way home tonight i thought that i would see how good the brakes were in my octy vrs. From a totally legal 70 i stamped on the brakes and it stopped well. I did it again twice (it was an epty road!!) but the brakes seemed to get less responsive on the third time and also afterwards when i was driving on the rest of the way home - normally! Is this brake fade. By the way I only have 800 miles on the car? thanks for any advice Ken

    Do It

I think I'll be a bit more patient then. Ive proved my point and maybe I wont get as many "when do you need to get a new elastic band" comments in the office now! So if I give it another 500 at a gentle pace with the odd burst of controlled madness, then run it as it is meant to be until about remap time of 6000 mile then I should have a well run in engine? Ive never run in a petrol before as diesels I just used to give them hell from the start. Another bad point, work have now put the Briskoda web site as "unauthorised access denied". It's a good job I resigned today then!!

    Do It

Ive only gone and done it! I picked up my black Octy vRS last saturday from the dealers and am well chuffed. I have been trying to gently run it in a bit and have been (trying) not to take it above 4K revs until on the way home from work tonight. As I had expected my boss tootled out of the office car park after me in his 325 half pint type car (the smaller one). I am sure he had been waiting for me. I went round the roundabout nice and slow and then floored it up the dual carriageway and left him floundering as he slipped away in the rear view. (I ignored my own 4K rule for this oh so important moment). I eased off and let him catch up, pulled over and let him come up alongside as I was running in third and had some revs left I thought I would have some more fun. I let him nose infront of me then gave him the "Skoda Experience" for a second time! He didnt ring me like he would have done before when I drove my Pug 406!! surprise surprise! ABSOLUTELY 'KIN BRILLIANT This is why I wanted a vRS. Oh thank you VW Audi for your spare parts. So I now have a piece of black magic and it has that funny affect of making me smile whenever I drive it. The missus even likes it, so it must be good. BUT tell me, should I be more careful as I "run it in"? I have done 600 miles so far at mostly steady motorway speeds. Is that enough? Does 600 miles on the clock give licence to give others the "skoda Experience"?
  7. it a personal purchase and they just give me the cash to spend on any car i want as long as it has 4 doors and is no more than 5 years old! i dont think the MD will like it tho' when i turn up in a skoda cos it's a bit snobby at our place! Who cares!! not me!
  8. Ive just ordered my new black Octy vRS and the dealer (Farmers in Leicester who have been very good) have said that it's in the docks waiting to be delivered nexy week!! Trouble is I dont get the company car allowance from work till April 12, but i might just take it in March on an 04 plate and run the car at my own cost for a month cos I'm that excited. Thanks for all your help in making the decision! Bring on the oakley wearing twits! in beemers!
  9. right then, question for you boys in the know who can give a company car man some advice. Having never bought a car before and in the process lining the tax man's pockets for the last 10 years, is it worth the
  10. GUTTED absolutely GUTTED I dont get back from my hols in sunny tenerifey till the following monday! I would have been great to meet everyone as I am expecting the arrival of my black Otcy early April. I'll just have to take my frustrations out on embarasing the germans on the karting track in tenerife whilst im out there! Count me in next time - deffo-Have Fun!
  11. Can some of you boys in the know tell me: If i get a remap in my new skoda (ordering it in 2 weeks time) will it make my warranty as much use as a BMW on ice (i.e. invalidate the warranty?
  12. Good point well made. i'll give it a try and see what happens. thanks for all your help by the way im boing to go for BLACK!!!
