  1. Changing country code to Australia via vcds gives you the option of a digital speedo reading if you have maxidot.
  2. Had a few bits and bobs off them. Never had any trouble.
  3. Popped the whole triangular piece out once whilst rattle hunting. Does have a couple of wires running to it - almost certain it's the solar sensor for the climate control. If fitted of course.
  4. Try www.volkswagen.co.uk/assets/common/content/owners/Longlife_servicing.pdf
  5. Blimey. Scrolled too far down and didn't see your arrow first time I looked. Oil level is really right up there ?. Looks like about 2 litres too much. I would take it back or drain some out yourself.
  6. One thing I miss from the Mk 1 is the low level warning. I know it's there in the maxidot and somebody tried activating it via VCDS. It didn't work because the sensor isn't fitted. Wonder if the sensor wiring is present on cars without the headlamp washer option ?. I imagine the sensor version will have a larger washer bottle too. Might have a poke around the washer bottle when I get chance.
  7. Silly owners manual is to blame. Worst description of how to check oil level i have ever seen. Why not just calibrate the dipstick to give a conventional "cold" reading. Suppose a "hot" reading will give a more accurate reading over a range of climatic conditions, but they would have to be extreme conditions to cause a problem.
  8. Changed my oil + filter last week. Refilled with 3.6 litres of Quantum Platinum 5w/40. Engine run up to operating temp. Left 10 minutes. Dipstick shows level at top of section "A". Left overnight shows virtually same level, maybe a smidge higher. Oil doesn't expand much when hot. If the level is up around the orange plastic area I would say it's got way too much in it. Car always comes back from Skoda after servicing with oil at the top of "A"
  9. VW's own "Official" oil is Quantum Platinum 5W / 40 (VW 502 Spec.) for fixed service intervals. Quantum Longlife III 5W / 30 (VW 504 Spec.) for variable service intervals. I get Platinum 5W / 40 from local Skoda dealer , £29 for 5 litres.
  10. Just been looking at some pictures and press release for the 2013 Seat Leon. One bit about the engine line up caught my eye - "The pinnacle of the TSI engine range will be a 1.8, producing 180ps and 250Nm. This engine will join the line-up later in 2013." So same outputs as the current Fabia vRS. Would they really manufacture two petrol engines with exactly the same power and torque ?. Think I also read this engine will have both direct and manifold injection, in a bid to keep the inlet valves free from carbon build up.
  11. Another vote for the ambassador mats. M uch better than the Skoda ones, and you choose your own logo and position it.
  12. Will be interesting to see how the revised CTHE engine performs. I'm surprized it's taken so long to reach production cars. Hopefully they have been doing extended testing it to make sure it's ok.
  13. Gone way off topic. Maybe ought to start a new thread on the CTHE engine ??
  14. http://www.polovw.it/foro/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=12913&start=2376#p545644 Doesn't translate very well, but worth a look
  15. Oooo, that's interesting - you've got the latest (long awaited) engine with the CTHE code. Supposedly a whole raft of internal changes to combat oil consumption. Post a piccy with the engine cover off if you can. Will be really interested to see how it performs.
