  1. Thank you so much for your help. You have been very helpful and I appreciate it greatly.
  2. Skoffski, They are drums on back.
  3. Thank you for your words of being cautious. The reasons you have pointed out are exactly why I asked for advice. I have been nervous of trusting the numbers and taking into account the age of my car as well was another reason I have asked about this.
  4. Having owned my 2011 Fabia 1.2tsi DSG in Elegance spec for 6.5 years, I am now considering going back to caravan holidays. I have a few of questions relating to this and my Fabia. My documentation and rating plate on the vehicle all say that the Max permissible tow weight is 1200Kg. This rating however doesn't match any of the online matching services when looking for a caravan match. They all rate the cars towing max at 1000Kg, so thats a huge difference. So what should I do, assume that the car is up to the job and buy a caravan that weighs more than 1000Kg (max load)? I have seen a few that are at figures of 1079Kg and 1090KG that are of interest. My second question:- Is it wise to even consider towing with the Fabia? Lastly a question about retro fitting a tow ball, Are there removable swan neck tow balls available for the 2011 Fabia? I would rather have one of these so its not always visible while not towing. Is fitting a tow ball to an older vehicle risky? I've enjoyed 6 years of trouble free motoring and would disturbing the wiring and dissembling the rear Bumper create more chance of faults occurring? To sum up, Would I be better leaving the car alone, selling it and buying a more suitable tow vehicle? Something that I really don't want to do as I love the car and haven't been so satisfied with a car for years.
  5. I shall side step the DPF debate... On the 20 MPH limit though I have to say I am all for it. Where we live since this has hapened on some streets it has also had the same effect on the streets around the zones. This has the boy racer types most upset, however it doesn't stop most still doing thirty when they get the chance so it makes little or no difference as there is no inforcement of the limits. You never see a speed camera or Police car sitting with a gun to monitor speeds, so what is the point? those Boys will break the law regardless. As I said early on in my post lots of drivers here now just drive at 20 regardles of what zone they are in so it has had an impact like it or not, our average journey times have also become quicker since these limits were introduced with the traffic flow seeming to be more fluid.
  6. So I am wondering how long the load space is with the seats down and how much stuff you can get into a Fabia Hatch. Can the Arm rest be removed easily to aid some extra length to the load space? Could you for instance get a side board into the back and close the boot? Depending on the size of course.
  7. Nice write up. It has everything thats important to say about the car. Most importantly the lack of engine braking that is something you really have to get use to and are constantly telling your other half to be aware of, because they only use the car once in a blue moon and forget to use the brakes early enough. Better to just drive it your self save the heart attack. I was looking for a car just like yours in the same colour combination. Wish I had the luxury of waiting for one now and didn't go for the Black interior. Mine also has sunroof, a mistake on my part too. The addition of sunroof cuts down head room and we never use it anyway, why would you with climate control? I jumped in and bought mine because I needed to change cars quickly and it was the right price and loaded with extras on top of the Elegance spec. and came up a grand less than the others the same age on offer at the time. I have to say though I love the Fabia and it comes close to being my favourite car only being toped by my 1987 Volvo, Now that really was a comfortable practical car.
  8. Yes I have lined mine and it has helped to almost completly stop it.
  9. Yeah I like it too. The black is meant to give the roof the floating affect, I have never reall understood that term as itcould never float now could it... Go ahead and paint them it sure looks good to me.
  10. My Fab puts a smile on my face too and its not even a Monte... Just a Standard DSG (105) I think Skoda have lots to make you SMILE about!
  11. Does this cleaning contact solution work on the mk2 as well? do you think?
  12. My sunglases holder fell out and there does seem to be a couple of sensors wired into the outer two slots. Simular to those you see retro fitted when you have an alarm added to your car. My car alarm has taken to going of at just gone Midnight any one any thought on that? Its on the drive behind gates so difficult for someone to do the old sit on the bonnet thing to get it to go off. Maybe its a faulty sensor inside, who knows? sure is annoying the neighbours though. Two nights on the trot but okay all day, what's that about? same time both nights, spooky!! Car still under two years old, so maybe not the key fob. Spiders and dust Maybe? Needle in a haystack job, wish the car didn't have an alarm.
  13. Er Coasting... Isn't that what your told never to do when learning....
  14. If this happens while your on your own with no one in the passenger front seat it could just be the seat belt socket... Mine sounded as you describe and was convinced it was from that area as you describe. I checked everwhere from the under seat box to the glove boxes and hose connections from engine bay and found nothing then as a last result I buckled up the seat belt and rattle went away. So now I always have the seat belt on the passenger side cliped in while on my own and no more rattles.... Hope this helps.
  15. Yeah I agree it tucks its self in well and I use the rear mudflap to tell me how far away fro the kirb the car is. The only trouble I find is that sometimes I am slightly further away at the front than the back. Can't get my head round that one  I do think though that its as easy to park as the Panda even though you have to find a slightly larger spot being half a metre longer than the Panda.
