  1. I'm back here for your advice gents and ladies. I've not been here for a while but I have a fault that I need your advice on. Driving home today the glow plug light started flashing, "engine fault workshop" came on the maxidot, and car went into limp mode. Managed to get it home turned the engine off and restarted it, low and behold all was fine. This has happened back at the end of Feb and I'd forgotten all about it. It happened some 2yrs ago and a faulty exhaust sensor was diagnosed (this was replaced) There seems to be a number of potential issues looking through the forum. My thoughts are its been less than 2 months since it last happened, is there potential for it to happen more frequently?? I also looked 2yrs ago at visiting Shark and having the DPF removed. What are your thoughts on the above??
  2. what i am most p***sed off with is that fact I had it back from the dealer and some 500 miles later its gone again Just checked the invoice and they caqrried out the following "investigate glow plug warning lamp on, diesel particular fault, regenerate filter faults via 5051, and carry out extensive road test all ok! Can anyone explain what "regenerate filter faults via 5051" means
  3. Well spoke to the dealer the other day, he's now telling me it probably needs a new sensor and will cost £43 plus labour of approx an hour, seems ridiculous considering how I've already paid them to repair it once!!! There is a strongly worded letter heading their way to this effect
  4. this workshop campaign was it a recall/something that should have been carried out by the dealer and has been missed?? I'm pretty sure the sensor was already replaced in May 08 under warranty
  5. did something similar myself on a cold January, took my coat off and placed it in the boot and as I closed the boot I realised key was in the coat pocket (and yes I had opened the car using just the boot button). Skoda assist eventually (after 3hrs) sent a local garage out he wedged the back door the put small airbag in and managed to drag the back seat forward, drag the coat out of the boot and hook the keys and get them out through the gap PHEW!!!!!!
  6. the suggested remedy was followed and didn't work
  7. I've recently joined "the green insurance company" and had need to call them out once, yes they sent local garage, service was prompt but unfortunatly unable to do anything due to needing Vag.com. It was £26.46 for the top package. I'd NEVER use the RAC, I had cause to call them out twice via skoda assist the first time a local garage turned up after 3hrs and sorted the problem and the second time RAC turned up after 2.5hrs and sorted it (was only flat battery) My partner called out RAC due to a faulty alternator and was left sat in the car whilst 4mths pregnant with her friend and a 4mths old baby for 2.5hrs!!! RAC's excuse was "well it is a bit uncivilised round there, thats why we are taking so long"
  8. Hi there, so had my car back from dealer after DPF light came on and it went into limp mode. All sorted Drove over to Norfolk and drove around there a bit prob total of 400miles then low and behold the light is back on, again I folllowed the directions in the manual but the light wouldn't go off, managed to get it back to North Wales without going into limp mode. Obviously dealer will be my first call on Weds am, but in the meantime has anyone got any suggestions why this would happen so soon after having it back from the dealer (supposedly sorted) Also I think I read here someone has had theirs remaped (if thats the correct term) to avoid the DPF, what are the pros and cons of this and what does it entail?? Thanks in anticipation
  9. Car's a 57 plate and just out of warranty, it has been back in for the sensor issue before which was all dealt with under warranty
  10. When driving around north wales after about 50miles the DPF light came on so as per the manual I gave the engine a blast, this had no effect. Then the Control System for Exhaust light came on, followed by the Glow Plug light flashing. The car then went into "limp" mode and would not go above 3000rpm It will be going to a dealer early next week as its due a service. But has anyone come across this and can you give me an idea of how much its gonna hurt my pocket to sort?? :'(
  11. I've got the Kumho's on mine too, can highly reccomend them
  12. Car is a 57 plate sept 07 so just over 3yrs, the rns 510 was fitted approx jan 2008 as for CAN gateway, sorry you've lost me. how do I find this out?
