  1. Hi, has any1 managed to enable the Driving School mode via VCDS on Skoda Swing audio used in Superb and Octavias? This should enable the speed display on audio unit display but since this is confirmed to work so far only on VW platform (and RCD310 audio) I have not yet dared to try this one on Skoda. So if any successfull attempts with Swing-unit then I'm interested to try it as well..?
  2. I have an Eberspacher 5kW model installed into my FL Combi Octavia 1.8TSI DSG MY2010. It's been now a month after installation and could not be happier about it! Usually some 20-30minutes of heating time is enough if the outside temp is not absolutely freezing cold.. I have also the radio controller R+ which operates 1km away so it is very handy to start the thing from breakfast table and jump into warm car briefly afterwards. Only downside is the cost of the installation which was 1600euros for whole set but life is.. Not any bad smells coming from the heater which is installed inside the front bumper, in front of left tire (on LHD models, UK models have an windscreen fluid reservoir there and therefore installation is inside drivers side bumper)
  3. I'm suffering similar problem too. Something is broken inside and the lock mechanism does not function. My approach of solving this is also a cardboard stucked between the opening and that keeps it closed enough (and can be opened by pulling the little cardboard thingy too) I've tried to dismantle it too to figure out what's causing this but fear of breaking something is much more than the success rate so far
  4. You are correct. 2 x 53cm's are the ones that does fit and what I did buy in the end. I first tried with Audi A6 versions which were about 56cm long but the connection to the wiper arms was so totally different that any modification to get those fitted was not possible. These 53cm's are quite OK, although the passenger side should be a bit longer to do a proper clean on the rain sensor area which now gets only half-wiped but still seems working just fine.
  5. As was threatened in that thread I was tempted to install the El-Cheapó model from Biltema. And surprizingly against all odds it has worked amazingly well. Installation is just like in your pictures and the main unit and beeper unit's are installed just like yours. All in all, I'm very pleased with this mod!
  6. Ok, browsing through an OEM part catalog says that from 05 onwards the correct ones are supposed to be AeroTwin 53+50cm but I guess I'll be going with 53+53cm's.
  7. Title tells it all...What is the maximum length on wiper blades that I can successfully fit onto my LHD Superb? This is the reason when I last time bought ones by the book then the second blade was way too short to give a satisfactory wiping area at all.. Would 2 x 60cm blades fit? Opinions on longest possible ones that fits are very welcome!
  8. DMF indeed may be worth checking carefully. If it goes under replacement I would be checking solid unit alternatives also.. If I recall correctly Sachs makes a replacement solid unit which is not DMF construction and can handle more torque too.. with a cost of convenience which this DMF brings to Superb..of course.
  9. I remember struggling with this issue also and at least for me this headlight alignment worked without VAG-COM, only thing is to remember to shut down the engine and leave your key as "Ignition ON" with light switch set to ON. Only then you can move the alignment screws without the automatic constantly resetting your efforts. This way it worked completely OK and has been like that ever since without problems. Maybe it works differently with Octavia..
  10. Mine had recently the 120kkm cambelt change service done and after that the engine felt also sluggish as you said. Turned out that the valve that controls the boost in turbo (N75? or something) had mysteriously went lazy and after that got replaced all the power was back in. Might be worth the check. It's a cheap part to replace (around 50e). Hope it helps!
  11. You'll notice the sensors near the shocks after you remove the tires. Sensors are linked between the chassis and McPherson-thingeys so they'll get the needed position data that way. Unfortunately you need to remove the bumber for a complete removal of headlight. There are 2 more bolts under the headlight which can be accessed only after the removal.
  12. Just managed to get myself ended in a 2 week testing period with a ChipTuning installed via OBD-port of Superb. The promised power from this 1.9 TDi engine with that software was 175-180BHP and 400Nm of torque. Based on my highly official a*s-dyno this mod did only some minor improvements over the powerband. Engine was more willing to rev to higher RPM's but the power around the 2krpm was more or less the same as in original setup. Since I like to use this engine around 2-3krpm's I was not very impressed with the more revving nature of this engine. Good side is that the fuel consumption did not suffered a lot with this. Also the occasional jerking when slightly slackening the pedal happened more frequently with this mod than usual (probably due slightly increased exhaust pressure which affects a worn EGR-valve) Based on these experiences I returned this car of mine back to original but I will block the EGR valve with metallic plate and via VAG-COM software to stop this "jerking-action" to happen anymore and also the intake manifold carbon build-up should stop happening after that. BTW, the engineer who tuned my car mentioned that these 130BHP Superbs have been measured more briskier in dyno (even 144BHP) than the factory officially acknowledges so maybe mine was just a briskier case at the start and that's why the power increase did not feel that dramatic...who knows. Now been through that, not worth the extra $$$'s. ..just my 2cents...
  13. No, not a bad thing at all..it just amazed me at first glance that how thin it was made to. I realize it is thin due to its placement but do you know any reason why aftermarket ones are so thick?
  14. Agree! And best practise is to swap the parts one by one from the working side to see which one fails.. Btw, the original Skoda ballast is incredibly thin construction..(compared to aftermarket ones).
  15. Aaaww..be careful with curbstones with those..looks quite vulnerable but kinda cool IMHO.
